New Data Reveals another Stunning State Failure from Gavin Newsom

The devastating wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles in January of this year have caused record-breaking losses of over $40 billion, surpassing all other wildfires and rivaling major hurricanes. Secondary impacts of the deadly fires have included flash floods and mudslides, which have further complicated recovery operations.

In any case, Gallagher Re, a major insurance firm, wrote a report that delved into the problems that made the fire so costly, but overlooked major issues with far-left local governance. California Democrats, such as Governor Gavin Newsom, handled the issue poorly, which made the situation even worse than it already was.

In any case, Steve Bowen, the Chief Science Officer at Gallagher Re, indicated that while the fireswere unexpected, proactive management could have limited the damage. He said, “Seeing such significant fires during winter is certainly abnormal. We’re facing a new reality regarding the seasonality of wildfires.  Engaging with local communities to promote sustainable land management and raising awareness about the consequences of our actions can make a significant difference. Let’s remain hopeful and proactive.”

Continuing the condemnation of inadequate California laws, Martha Bane, Managing Director of US Property, spoke about how to mitigate the effects of wildfires. She explained, “When you talk about making that community more resilient, it takes more than just the codes in place right now. There would have to be significant investments from the government and cities to go above and beyond what the code is requiring.”

As we reported, instead of taking responsibility for the disaster facing his state, Gavin Newsom blamed everyone else. Beginning his inadequate remarks, Newsom said, “I’ve got that question from I can’t tell you about how many people. ‘What happened?’ My own team saying what happened, and I want to get the answers.”

Continuing to explain away his responsibility, the Governor added, “I watched the press conference with some of those leaders. We had my team start talking to local leaders, saying, What’s going on. I was getting different answers. When you start getting different answers, then I’m not getting the actual story, and they’re assessing it, and I get that as well.”

Using the destructive wildfires to score cheap political points, the California Governor pivoted to attacking Donald Trump. He whined, “But no one has any patience anymore in …[Look at] the grievance of Trump against everyone else. There’s immediacy and lies travel the proverbial world, and it’s hard to get the facts out there unless you have backing of those facts and you can communicate them soberly.”

Other Democrats, such as the infamous Senator Adam Schiff (CA), made the same mistake. When asked by a journalist if he was willing to work with the president, Schiff barked that Trump must “work with all of us” in the far-left state, adding, “It’s going to be really important for the incoming president to work with all of us in California to make sure that we get the resources we need to put out these flames.”
