    Netflix Faces Titanic Boycott Threat after Mocking Charlie Kirk’s Death

    Netflix has come under heavy fire by conservative viewers after allegedly making a post that mocks the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, with many calling for a boycott of the streaming giant. However, Netflix released a statement to Fox News Digital on September 10, 2026, saying they did not intend for the post to reference Kirk.

    When folks got on social media platform X that morning, the account made a post featuring images from the Netflix series, “The Gentlemen,” which showed lead character Eddie Horniman, played by actor Theo James, turning around to take a look at his partner and potential love interest Susie Glass, portrayed by Kaya Scodelario, during Horniman’s wedding to another woman.

    What disturbed folks was the caption, which said, “Nearly did himself a neck injury.” The post was published on the one-year anniversary of Kirk’s assassination, timing that many online felt was a little strange given the tragic event’s commemoration. Conservatives on X immediately bombarded the streaming company, accusing it of making a horrible joke out of Kirk’s shooting, which happened during a campus event at Utah Valley University.

    According to a report from Fox News, popular conservative account Libs of TikTok responded to the post, “This is DISGUSTING Netflix appears to be subtly mocking Charlie Kirk’s ass*ssination on this anniversary of his death. Woke Netflix hates us. So glad I cancelled my subscription.” There was more where that came from.

    “This is the company financially backing Bonehead Bob Bonta and his jihad against Paramount, by the way,” former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt wrote in response. John Daniel Davidson, senior editor for The Federalist, responded by writing, “One of the great advantages of our time is that, if you’re a conservative, your enemies are totally open and honest about their desire to kill you and destroy everything you love. It’s clarifying. They don’t intend to live peaceably with us. Fine. Then we won’t live peaceably.”

    “Seems hard to believe this is a coincidence. Absolutely disgusting,” radio host Jason Rantz said. A spokesperson for Netflix issued a response to all of the controversy, calling the comparison between the scene depicted and Charlie Kirk’s assassination “ludicrous,” stating it was just referencing a plot point from the series, which just released its second season.

    “This post directly references a plot point from our U.K. series, ‘The Gentlemen,’ which launched its second season on Sept. 3. Suggestions that it has any link to sensitive real world events are inaccurate and ludicrous,” the spokesperson added. Another user on X called for conservatives to boycott the streaming service.

    “Hey @netflix do you stand by this post mocking an innocent man getting murdered in cold blood in front of his little children? I’m sure millions of Americans would like to know so they can cancel their Netflix subscriptions if you don’t fire the person responsible. We’re fine with starting a boycott if that’s how you want to play it,” the user wrote.

    Another user wrote, “Already canceled. Their message was clear.” One user said, “Ya, this was enough. My kids love Little House on the Prairie and K-Pop Demon Hunters but Netflix is now canceled.” Another person went on to comment, “I’ve cancelled this evening and told them exactly why. Disgusting company.” Someone else said, “They posted it on purpose. They meant it. I cancelled my subscription years ago and will never use them again. They are asking to be destroyed.”
