Nearly 1,000 people visited the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, to see a Kirk Cameron read-along event. Cameron was joined by Franklin Graham, as the duo shared Cameron’s book “As You Grow” with children and their families.
Kirk Cameron shared a video of his read-aloud with fans who could not attend by posting it to Facebook. According to Breitbart, Cameron led the children in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and a group singing of God Bless America.
Brave Books, Cameron’s publisher, gave a brief statement regarding pushback that the author has seen at similar events at libraries nationwide. The issues have been well documented, with library staff attempting to cancel the events due to Cameron’s views:
What this story hour meant, though, is that no matter where Kirk goes, whether it’s a library like Billy Graham’s or whether it’s enemy territory like his upcoming story hour in Seattle, Kirk is seeing the same amount of people come to each event (averaging 600 per event). This is evidence that all over this country, even in far-left cities, there are much more people who want to hear what Kirk has to say than what a drag queen has to say. Kirk has brought many people the voice of God’s truth and his bravery is making an impact nationwide.
Reverend Franklin Graham invited Cameron to this reading. He offered praise for the author and actor who has been unwilling to shy away from the cancellation attempts that he has faced. He thanked Cameron for “taking a stand for the voice of Christians to be at the table in today’s cancel culture where it seems ‘anything goes’ until it comes to Jesus Christ. We need to teach our children the truth of God’s Word, and that’s exactly what Kirk wants to do.”
Cameron’s comment section on Facebook was flooded with praise and thanks, with fans saying things like:
“Thank you Kirk. Our children need more story hour time like this. God bless you.”
“Good afternoon Kirk, thank you for taking the time out to do this!!”
“Absolutely incredible. True blessings for the heart, mind, spirit and soul! THANKS for sharing!”
“Gee I wish that I’d known that you were going to be there I would have come. Do you have a travel calendar you can share?”
Cameron’s wowing success has not come without any obstacles in his path, as Fox News Digital wrote:
In comments to Fox News Digital over the weekend, actor and writer Kirk Cameron declared that he has “won” against two public libraries in this country that previously denied him the space and opportunity to hold a children’s book story hour program in their facilities — and that now are offering to work with him on room bookings after he challenged their denials and threatened to “assert” his “rights in court.”
In short, “they caved,” his publisher told Fox News Digital this weekend.
Fox News Digital was shown the email exchanges between him and the two libraries as proof of the forward progress, as well as the details of the room bookings for later this month at the libraries.
