National Guard Trooper Killed by Illegal Alien in Indiana

A National Guard soldier was killed last weekend due to an illegal immigrant causing a multi-vehicle accident on the highway, according to local authorities in Indiana. The incident took place in Boone County, Indiana and is one in a recent slew of accidents that have been caused by illegals across the country.

The soldier who lost his life in this tragic accident was part of a military convoy that was making its way to Camp Atterbury from Frankfort Armory for weekend drills. As the convoy traveled down Interstate 65, the driver of a hauler truck “abruptly” changed lanes, causing the soldier, who was behind the wheel of a Humvee to lose control.

His vehicle rolled several times before colliding with a Subaru driven by a woman from Kentucky. The woman was treated for injuries at the scene of the accident. First responders located a total of four injured National Guardsmen, one of whom was unconscious.

Spc. Terry Frye, 23, from Lafayette, Indiana, was then pronounced dead at the scene. His fellow Guardsmen were transported to a local hospital and received treatment for serious injuries. The driver of the truck was later identified as Goderdzi Gujabidze, 56, of Brooklyn, New York.

Gujabidze, who could not adequately communicate in English, was transported to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office to speak with a translator. Authorities were able to confirm that Gujabidze is a Georgia citizen — the country, not the state — who is in the U.S. illegally.

“Indiana National Guardsman Terry Frye should still be alive. His life was cut short on I-65 by an illegal who never should’ve been here in the first place,” Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) said about the accident on Monday. “I fully support President Trump’s mission to deport everyone here illegally so we can prevent tragedies like this from ever happening again.”

The surviving members of Frye’s family were angered by Banks’ statement about the deadly accident, putting out a statement of their own criticizing him for “politicizing” the tragedy. “Terry’s death is not a political prop. He was a son, a father, a soldier, and a deeply loved member of our family long before he was a headline. Turning the worst moment of our lives into a talking point for any political agenda is inappropriate and hurtful,” the family said in comments to local media outlet WTHR.

“We ask that you honor his memory by speaking about him with respect, without attaching his name to partisan statements or policy debates. Our family will not allow his death to be used to score political points,” the statement continued. The other three Guardsmen hurt in the accident have been identified as Izaya Phillips, 21, Nicholas Reinhart, 27, and Luke Richardson, 23.

“All four soldiers served in Company D in the 2nd Battalion of the 151st Infantry Regiment. Frye had served there since March 2020 as an infantryman, earning both the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon,” ABC 57 reports. The accident is still being investigated by local authorities, as more and more of these kinds of incidents unfold across the United States.
