Maye Musk, the occasionally in the news mother of famous technology billionaire and X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk, recently chimed in and commented on the lies spread by outlets like CNN after her son did a gesture those outlets falsely characterized as a “Nazi salute” during a pre-inauguration event.
As background, during the pre-inauguration Trump rally, Musk said he was America’s “first buddy” and jokingly threw his heart to the crowd in a funny moment. The media took the clip, presented it out of context, and pretended that Musk had, bizarrely, started doing the infamous Nazi salute while on stage.
For example, CNN’s Kasie Hunt, commenting on the moment, indicated that it had, in fact, been such a salute and, as such, had no place in American politics. She said, commenting on the incident, “That salute was evocative of things we’ve seen through history. It’s not something you typically see at American political rallies.”
That general claim was ridiculed. Even liberal political commentator Piers Morgan, chiming in on X, said, “Elon Musk was very ill-advised to do this kind of salute to denote his clearly stated ‘my heart goes out to you’ sentiment… but he obviously didn’t mean it as a Nazi salute and anyone who says he did is being a disingenuous idiot.”
Similarly, CNN’s conservative contributor, Scott Jennings, slammed the hoax during a panel on the network. When host Abby Phillips indicated she thought it was such a salute, Jennings chimed in and ridiculed the notion, saying, “We’ve moved on from Trump derangement syndrome to Elon derangement syndrome.”
Continuing, he added that Musk likely has a claim to sue given how utterly absurd the comments about his gesture were, saying, “Anybody who is asserting this thing he did on the stage the other day was a Sieg Heil, which I just heard you say, you know, lawyer up maybe because, absolute[ly] ridiculous thing to say.”
Chiming in, far-left CNN personality Catherine Rampell insisted that Jennings had to due the gesture if it was innocuous, saying, “Why don’t you do it on TV right now? Why don’t you do it on TV right now if you think it’s so, so banal.” She again demanded, “So do it right now on TV. This is the biggest conspiracy theory–” his response began, before a fired up Rampell jumped in again. “Do it right now on TV. If you think it’s normal, if you think it’s a normal way to greet people, do it right now on TV! Why won’t you?” Watch them here:

Maye Musk, chiming in on the matter on X, praised Jennings for his attempt to show CNN viewers the truth about what happened and called on her son to sue the woke news outlet. She said, “I have been receiving so much hatred because of the @CNN panel with @crampell yelling about Nazi salutes. @elonmusk, please sue them. Thank you @ScottJenningsKY for trying to intervene with the truth.”
Agreeing, commenters on her post said things like “It’s unacceptable that false narratives are being pushed. Accountability is key to fostering a positive culture, and defamation should have consequences” and “💯💯💯 I’m so sick of these leftist propagandists who think they can get away with any lie because they never get held accountable.”
