Elon Musk recently sounded off on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” claiming the organization had engaged in “deliberate” interference in the 2024 election. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leader slammed the network claiming they deserve lengthy prison sentences over their conduct.
The remarks from the multi-billionaire came after “60 Minutes” published a piece criticizing the recent shutdown of USAID, interviewing Andrew Natsios, a Republican and former administrator of the agency. Musk responded, claiming those at the network were the “biggest liars” and were deserving of legal consequences.
The “60 Minutes” account posted, “President Trump says USAID is rife with fraud. But Andrew Natsios, a Republican former administrator of USAID, calls that “utter nonsense.” Natsios says USAID is “the most accountable aid agency in the world.”” Musk responded, “60 Minutes are the biggest liars in the world! They engaged in deliberate deception to interfere with the last election. They deserve a long prison sentence.”
The head of DOGE had also retweeted a video of a “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris which conservative commentator Amuse described as “propaganda.” The account wrote, “60 Minutes allows Kamala Harris to lie while the cameras are rolling. When they’re off they confront her asking her for the truth.”
In the clip, Harris was asked by the host, “We were talking about how you’re going to pay for it. And I mean, I truly do mean, I you know, your plans are logical. Make logical sense. The way Washington works is not logical. So how are you going to convince a divided Congress that what you say your plans are something that they should all agree to and provide to the American people, and they’ve shown no inclination to do that up to this point.”
Once the cameras cut, the interviewer asked, laughing, “How will you?” Harris responded, “It’s going to be taxes. It’s going to be literally…if the economists…” unable to articulate a clear answer. The host said, “I mean, I hear what you’re saying about the economists. This is true, but Congress is not the economist.”
Commentator Brent Baker described the clip, “At very end of unedited @60Minutes video posted today by CBS, @BillWhitakerCBS called Harris’ economic policy proposals “logical.” When cameraman asked to get an over the shoulder shot of Whitaker: “Well we were talking about how you’re gonna pay for it and I mean I truly do mean it, I, you know, your plans are logical, make logical sense. The way Washington works is not logical….” Rundown by @NickFondacaro of CBS’s duplicity.”

Reacting to the clip, one person called out the seeming bias the media has toward President Donald Trump. “The way they treat Trump is totally different. They question and challenge him openly on camera. But with Kamala, they are soft and careful. This is without a doubt election interference,” they said.
