Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently demanded that her fellow Republicans in the Kevin McCarthy “led” House of Do-Nothing Reps hitch up their britches and get to work on dealing with Biden as we head into primary season and then the 2024 election, saying that Biden is clearly in the wrong and the GOP needs to show it can fight. Now she’s threatening a shutdown unless they follow through.
As background, that came as a series of comments about Biden and the Republicans. “Joe Biden is again on record proven to be lying to the American people about his knowledge and involvement with his son and business partners,” she said. “I don’t know how anybody will take us seriously if we can’t vote on impeachment inquiry. If you can’t vote for impeachment on Joe Biden, then how can you dare to even claim you’re willing to drain the swamp? You’re not,” she continued.
Emphasizing her point, she said, “Any Republican that won’t go for impeachment inquiry or won’t vote for impeachment is proving to the voters, proving to the American people, that they’re not up to the task to hold anyone accountable.” She added, “If we still have Republicans on the fence, then that tells you right now that we’re in a crisis. We’re literally in a crisis in this country if we cannot vote for an impeachment inquiry with yet another bombshell news story about the corruption and the secretive nature of Joe Biden.”
Predictably, the GOP has not rallied round the flag to attack Joe Biden with an impeachment and is instead moving ploddingly along with the obvious intention of not doing much. So Rep. Greene threatened to go on the offensive to get it moving in a speech in her Floyd County, Ga., district.
As the audience roared with applause, she began by saying she would be a “no” vote on the budget unless the GOP impeaches Biden, saying, “I’ve already decided I will not vote to fund the government unless we have passed an impeachment inquiry on Joe Biden.” That would, if she managed to get others to do the same, potentially result in a government shutdown for lake of funding.
Continuing, she blasted the idea that the GOP would vote to fund a government weaponized against them, saying, “I will not fund the government because I will not fund the weaponized part of the government. I’m not going to continue to fund the Biden regime’s weaponized government. So there should be no funding for Jack Smith. Special Counsel.”
Making specific demands about what needs to happen to that weaponized government, she said, “We had to fire David Weiss, who is protecting Hunter Biden on his special counsel. And we have to rein in the FBI. I will not vote for money to go towards those things.“
She then brought the threat back out, saying she would vote for nothing that funds the hated Covid restrictions, saying, “I will not vote for a continuing resolution that funds mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and COVID. Because that is over. Joe Biden even declared that is over.”
Ending, she vowed to fight to stop the funding for the war in Ukraine, saying, “And lastly, my red line in the sand has always been, I will not vote to fund a war in Ukraine. We have to have peace. So I will be happy to work with all of my colleagues. I will work with the Speaker of the House. I will work with everyone, but I will not fund those things. And I thought it was most important for me to tell you all first because I work for you. And that’s that’s what we have to do.”

Tonight, I made an announcement directly to my constituents at my Floyd County Town Hall.
I will not vote to fund the government if Congress doesn’t do this:
– Impeachment Inquiry vote on Joe Biden
– Defund Biden’s weaponization of government
– Eliminate all COVID vaccine and… pic.twitter.com/2WXd4CrV7R— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@RepMTG) August 31, 2023
