MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Freaks Out after Election, Makes Wild Claim about Trump Voters and “Democracy”

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow recently expressed concerns that Americans have abandoned democracy following the results of the 2024 presidential election, in which President-elect Donald Trump decisively defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in a landslide victory, easily taking the electoral college and in a position to win the popular vote.

According to Maddow, this election was consequential where Americans had a choice between America’s usual system of governance or an “authoritarian system.”  The host pushed the alarming and hostile rhetoric that has been thrown at Trump for years, comparing him to fascist, authoritarian leaders such as Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini.

“If this was an election that was not just a choice between two candidates, but a choice between keeping the American system of government or trading it in for a strong man authoritarian system instead, then the decisive result of this election gives us, not just an answer to the question as to what Americans want to do along those lines, it also gives us a really big to-do list as Americans,” she said.

Maddow further explained her opinion that Americans favored the “strong man” leadership of Trump which supposedly contradicts Democracy.  She added, “We now are just another one in the list of countries that has decided to, you know — ‘Hey, what the heck? Let’s try the strong man thing. Let’s let democracy go. Let’s put in an all-powerful guy instead. See how it goes.’”

Furthermore, Maddow touted a disproven, misleading hoax about Trump that he intends to deploy the U.S. military against his political adversaries. “The U.S. military needs to give the American people binding assurances that they will not deploy U.S. military force against the civilian population in this country. They can give those assurances, and now they should,” Maddow continued.  “The free press needs to give the people of this country assurances that they will not become state TV. That they will stand and fight together. They will put aside rivalries and petty professional differences.”

Maddow appeared to rally liberals to subvert the incoming Trump administration.  “Hope you are feeling scrappy,” Maddow said. “Hope you are tapping into your inner pirate energy, because it is one thing to be a defender of the realm. It is another thing to be in opposition. And opposition can be a lot of things. It can be dangerous, but can also be fun. Would have been nice to win the election. Didn’t? Okay? Time to save the country,” she added.

The American Tribune has reported on the alarming reactions of various other celebrities in the wake of Trump’s victory.  For example, actor John Cusack wrote, “The fact that the country would choose to destroy itself by voting in a convicted felon rapist and Nazi is a sign of deep nihilism. To put it mildly.” Actress Christina Applegate claimed her daughter was “sobbing” as the prospect of losing “rights” under Trump. “My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away,” she wrote. “Why? And if you disagree, please unfollow me,” she said.
