In huge news for those who enjoy seeing things go less than well for the woke, corporate media, particularly serially-anti-Trump stations like always-leftist MSNBC, the show’s ratings have taken a massive dip in the wake of the election. Particularly, they have fallen like a rock as voters not only tune out, but flee in the wake of the two main co-hosts announcing that they met with President-elect Donald Trump.
As background, the hosts, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, opened on the Monday, November 18 broadcast of Morning Joe by announcing that they had met with President-elect Trump. Beginning, Mika said, “On Friday, we were given the opportunity to do just that. Joe and I went to Mar-a-Lago to meet personally with President-elect Trump. It was the first time we have seen him in seven years.”
Scarborough, chiming in and detailing their discussion with the president-elect, one whom they repeatedly smeared during the campaign, “We talked about a lot of issues, including abortion, mass deportation, threats of political retribution against political opponents and media outlets. We talked about that a good bit.”
Admitting that the show and the president-elect hold wildly different political opinions, he then added, “It will come as no surprise to anybody who watches this show, has watched it over the past year or over the past decade, that we didn’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues and we told him so.”
Brzezinski, chiming back in, said, “What we did agree on was to restart communications.” She added, “My father often spoke with world leaders with whom he and the United States profoundly disagreed. That is a task shared by reporters and commentators alike. We had not spoken to Trump since March of 2020, other than a personal call that Joe made after the attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
Shortly afterward, she added: “Joe and I realized it’s time to do something different and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but also talking with him.” Scarborough said, “Somebody close to Donald Trump told me this past weekend, this is a president who is not seeking re-election, so maybe, just maybe now could be time for both parties to get to work.”
He also said, “I don’t know. It seems to make sense for leaders of both parties to seek common ground, if it’s possible at all. I will tell you a lot of Democratic leaders we have talked to this past week since the election have told Mika and me, it’s time for a new approach. When I say top Democrats, I mean top Democrats they said we are open – this is before we talked to Donald Trump – they said, ‘Listen, we are open to working with the incoming president if the incoming president is open to working with us.’”
Much as they might try to justify it to their far-left audience, the decision to meet with Trump is one that has led to a massive decline in viewership for the program. Liberal outlet Mediaite, reporting as much and noting the massive scale of the viewership plummet, provided:
The 6 am hour of the program brought in 839,000 total viewers and 113,000 viewers in the key 25-54 age demographic on Monday, during which the hosts discussed their meeting that prompted a swift backlash from diehard Trump critics.
The same hour on Tuesday had dropped to 680,000 total viewers with 76,000 in the demo. Tuesday’s program overall saw an 11 percent drop in total viewers and a 12 percent drop in demo viewers from Monday. Compared to the program’s average viewership for 2024, Tuesday’s show was down some 38 percent in total viewers and 37 percent in the demo. The show, which runs for four hours from 6 to 10 am, also saw its third lowest-rated telecasts in the 3rd and 4th hour for the entire year.
Showing the intensity of leftist outrage over the news was the X (formerly Twitter) account that goes by “Jo.” She said, losing it in quite vulgar fashion, “F*ck Joe & Mika. F*ck Morning Joe. And f*ck MSNBC if they keep them on the f*cking air.” Watch Mike and Joe announce their decision here:
