Nicolle Wallace, a host on the far-left MSNBC network, has been embroiled in controversy after she sarcastically wished 13-year-old DJ Daniel a “long life.” The boy, who is fighting cancer, was honored by the President with an honor appointment to the Secret Service. Not only was she condemned by Trump, but her ratings have taken a major dip.
“I hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer. But I hope he never has to defend the U.S. Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters,” Wallace heartlessly said. “And if he does, I hope he isn’t one of the six who loses his life to suicide. And I hope he isn’t one who has to testify against the ones who carried out acts of seditious conspiracy and lived to see Donald Trump pardon those people.”
Her show, “Deadline: White House,” maintained an average of 1.6 million viewers from the start of 2024 to the election. After Donald Trump’s historic victory, they cratered over 35%. According to Fox News, Deadline: White House is down to 93,000 viewers per day compared to 144,000 before Election Day. The conservative news network manages 3.6 million viewers in the same time slot.
After hearing Wallace, the President lambasted her for her heartless remarks. “Frankly, what Nicolle Wallace said—I’ve never been a fan of hers, and she’s not very talented—but I will tell you what she said the other day about the young man is disgraceful. She should be forced to resign,” Trump expressed.
At a subsequent press briefing, Karoline Leavitt, referred to Democrats as the “party of insanity and hate.” At the time she said, “Last night, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace disgustingly looped in a 13-year-old boy with brain cancer into an attack on the president over January 6. It’s sad and frankly pathetic that Democrats and liberals in the legacy media continue to allow their hatred for the president to override their love for our country.”
Wallace wasn’t the only MSNBC host to go after the boy. In an episode of her show on MSNBC which aired on March 4, 2025, Rachel Maddow attacked Trump for honoring a juvenile cancer survivor. “For the record, and this is disgusting, the President made a spectacle out of praising a young man who thus far survived pediatric cancer, as if the President had something to do with that,” Maddow said.
“This was in the midst of him praising DOGE. DOGE cuts, among other things, have cut off funding for ongoing research into pediatric cancer,” she claimed. However, the boy’s father, Theodis Daniel, told the New York Post, “She needs to shut her mouth if she has nothing nice to say.” He added, “This lady didn’t even serve time in the military.

“Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who truly loves our police. His name is DJ Daniel. He is 13 years old and he has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. But in 2018, DJ was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him five months at most to live,” Trump said in his speech. “That was more than six years ago. Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true.”
Watch her here:
“And DJ has been sworn in as an honorary law enforcer—officer, actually a number of times. The police love him. The police departments love him,” he added. ” And tonight DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service. “
