Morgan Wallen continues to defy the mainstream media who want him canceled. The country singer released his album “One Thing at a Time” earlier this year and has found himself at the top of country music charts since.
Wallen’s success in sales did not correlate to an award at the woke CMTs, but that hasn’t stopped fans from keeping “One Thing at a Time” atop Billboard’s Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 album charts, says the Daily Caller. “Last Night” the single that tops the Billboard Hot 100, has received over 35,000,000 streams and 30,000,000 impressions on the radio. The song has also held first place on the Streaming Songs chart for a whopping five weeks. The Daily Caller wrote this about “Last Night”:
“The excellent track first hit the top spot back in February, well before the entire album dropped. It then helped Wallen break a 40-year record for topping both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Country Songs charts. No artist had held both positions since 1981, when Eddie Rabbitts “I Love a Rainy Night” hit both positions.”
For those who are not in the know, Wallen had a run-in with the cancelation police when he was caught on a video saying the “n-word” after a night out drinking with a couple of his buddies. Ever since then, the left has been out to get him. Even following the apology tour that the country star embarked on, the talking heads continue to clamor for his downfall. Despite all that, fans are still eager to hear the newest release from Morgan Wallen. Rob Mattox from The American Tribune described this, writing:
“Country music fans like what they like, and they liked Morgan Wallen. His sales went through the roof, and since ultimately it’s all about the money and not really the virtue, his label and country radio took him back with open arms, much to the pearl clutching and salty tears of leftists everywhere. Now, with his latest album being a gargantuan, 36 song success, his latest number one, “Last Night” has prompted lefties in the media to take aim once again and attempt to downplay Wallen’s success.”
For his part, Wallen was quick to apologize following the incident. He said, “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”
Even after all of this success, the mainstream media refuses to admit that Morgan Wallen is reaching these numbers on the back of great musical talent. Chris Molanphy at Slate Magazine wrote about what he thinks is the real reason that Wallen is experiencing success.
Molanphy wrote, “Numerically speaking, this new song is not topping the charts by uniting disparate audiences. It’s not (yet, maybe ever) a song for everybody. And whatever its musical merits, you get the sinking feeling it’s being boosted by an audience that’s trying to prove a point, and maybe even … own the libs?”
