Former professional shortstop Zack Cozart recently voiced his support for Donald Trump after the horrific assassination attempt on the former president.  The shooting at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally, which left one Trump supporter dead, has provoked a myriad of endorsements from prominent figures, particularly in the realm of sports.

The all-star MLB shortstop, who formerly played for the Angels and the Reds, shared a photo of himself on social media sitting in a golf car sporting a hat that featured “Trump” written upside down in red, white, and blue colors that resembled the American flag.  In another post on X, Cozart explained his anticipation to vote for Trump in the upcoming election.

The hat Cozart was wearing in the picture is listed on the official Trump store with the description, “When things go upside down, it just inspires more thinking, more creativity, and more action! A perfect hat for summer activities. Wear this limited edition hat in style and with pride all year long!”  Cozart also expressed his anticipation to vote for Trump in a separate post.

The former MLB player said, “I dunno bout yall but I can’t wait to vote for Trump… I’ve honestly never seen the party as united as now… they tried to kill our President … least we can do is VOTE!!”  Cozart was commenting on a video of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis defending Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  “Donald Trump has been demonized, he’s been sued, he’s been prosecuted, and he nearly lost his life. We can not let him down, and we can not let America down,” Governor DeSantis said.

The attempted assassination of former President Trump has drawn commentary from many other current and former athletes.  The American Tribune recently reported on a slew of statements from high-profile individuals extending their thoughts and prayers to the Republican Presidential candidate after the horrific attempt on his life at the Pennsylvania rally.

Pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau wrote on X, “Violence deserves no place in this world. Praying for President Trump and his family. Wishing for a speedy recovery.”  Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III shared on social media, “I don’t care how much you love or hate President Donald Trump, now is not the time to play politics. Pray for him, his family and anyone else impacted by today’s shooting.”  Sports commentator Rich Eisen weighed in, “Thank you to the heroes of the Secret Service who threw themselves into what appeared to be a hail of bullets. Find whoever did this and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. None of this is OK. Praying for everyone there in Butler PA.”

Famous professional fighter Connor McGregor stated, “A 78 year old multiple billionaire he should be on a yacht on the med touring golf courses. But he is not. He is in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed Donald! God bless the United States.” Furthermore, McGregor has reportedly endorsed Trump’s campaign.

Celebrity fighter Logan Paul also praised Trump for his unwavering courage after being shot in the ear.  “To survive an assassination attempt by mere millimeters then stop your security so you can raise your fist in defiance of death is the most badass thing I’ve ever seen in my life I hope everyone is okay Find the shooter,” Paul said.
