A missing Florida teen has been found dead in Alabama, and her convict boyfriend has been charged with her kidnapping and murder, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday.

Searching detectives found the body of Anastasia Gilley, just 19 years old, near Headland, Alabama. It appears that Gilley, who was four months pregnant at the time of her untimely death, was murdered.

Soon after the discovery of Gilley’s body, police charged her 33-year-old boyfriend, Marquis McCloud, with kidnapping and murder. McCloud’s is a former convict whose rap sheet includes a rape conviction, terror threats, robbery, battery, and violation of sex offender laws. He was uncooperative in the search for Gilley and was already in the custody of the police at the time Gilley’s body was found.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s office announced the news in a press release, saying:

Both Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Houston County Sheriff’s Office investigators have been working around the clock since the missing person report of Anastasia Gilley came to our office. The investigation quickly led to the arrest of an Alabama man, who has been in custody since earlier this week. The suspect has been uncooperative throughout this entire investigation.

Information gathered through interviews and other investigative techniques led law enforcement to various locations in Houston and Jackson Counties. In the early hours of Wednesday, May 10, the body of a deceased victim was found near Headland, Alabama. Investigators believe this to be the body of Anastasia Gilley, pending an autopsy.

This is a large, multi-state investigation, and is ongoing, but a suspect is in custody and is not a threat to the public. Charges are pending for the suspect. More details will be shared as the investigation continues.
As this tragedy continues to unfold, Sheriff Edenfield and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim. Sheriff Edenfield would also like to thank everyone who has assisted and continues to assist in this investigation.

A later update to that announcement added, “*Update – the suspect, Marquis Devan McCloud, is being charged with Capital Murder during Kidnapping First Degree*”

That cam after a missing person post in which the Jackson Count Sheriff’s office said, “Our office is currently trying to locate 19-year-old Anastasia Gilley. Gilley is approximately 4′ 11″ & 105 lbs. She has brown hair and blue eyes and is 4 months pregnant. She was last seen at her home on Wednesday, May 3. If you have any information on her whereabouts, please call our office at (850) 482-9624 immediately.”
