First Lady Melania Trump met guests at the Congressional Picnic, held on the South Lawn of the White House, wearing a pink floral jumpsuit designed by Valentino, demonstrating once again that she has a flair for elegance and class when it comes to fashion. The first lady’s jumpsuit, featuring a silk crew-neck, is not new, having come out in a previous collection from seasons ago, when Pierpaolo Piccioli led the Valentino company.
The first time Melania Trump wore the outfit was in April of 2024 when she attended a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Trump opted to leave out the silk sash this time, replacing it with a thick green leather belt and sported a classy set of black leather flats from Christian Louboutin. Not only did Mrs. Trump make jaws drop with her beauty, she also delivered remarks during the event, celebrating America’s longstanding tradition of fostering unity.
“I have breaking news: today, the House passed the Fostering the Future Act!” the first lady began. “Thank you, Chairman Smith, Chairman LaHood, Ranking Member Davis and the House of Representatives for voting unanimously to lift America’s foster children above partisan politics.” She then addressed senators present at the event, stating that they have the momentum to bring the legislation across the finish line.
“The White House Congressional Picnic has been a cherished American tradition for a great part of our nation’s two-hundred-and-fifty-year history. Beyond politics, it provides an important social ritual where our nation’s leaders share a moment of light-heartedness as we transition into the warm summer months,” Melania Trump said, according to a statement from the White House that contained her remarks.
The first lady and former supermodel then spoke about how the event brings together individuals from both sides of the political spectrum to enjoy great food, music, and friendly competition. “This evening’s beautiful setting brings families from both sides of the political aisle together to enjoy Americana—the Marine Band’s wonderful music, great food, and some friendly gaming competition,” she told the crowd.

“This great American social tradition reminds us that some fun and laughter with our families can bring unity, especially when our children and loved ones are by our side. I have seen firsthand how much can be accomplished when Republicans and Democrats come together with a shared purpose, particularly for the betterment of our children,” Mrs. Trump continued.

She then noted the bipartisan success of the TAKE IT DOWN Act and how that brought to light the great tradition of Americans from different ideological backgrounds coming together as one people united by principle. “We experienced great bipartisan success with the TAKE IT DOWN Act. I saw the spirit of American unity shine once again during my recent engagement with the House Ways and Means Committee as we began to shape legislation to protect America’s foster care community,” she said.
“Young Americans deserve every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed, and I believe we will continue making meaningful progress on their behalf. Make the most of this evening so that we can be impactful together, with greater alignment, in the future. And now, please welcome President Donald J. Trump,” the first lady concluded.
