Former First Lady Melania Trump recently recounted heartwarming memories of her first date with former President Donald Trump early in their relationship in the late 90s. Sitting down for an interview with Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt, Melania shared details about her relationship with her now-husband decades before they were thrust into the limelight of national politics.
As the media has attacked the Trump family, spreading stories that negatively portray the marriage between Melania and the former president, Melania sharing these details shatters this narrative that they live in a marriage devoid of love. During the interview, Melania was promoting her upcoming memoir that seeks to provide her account of the truth amid perpetual negative bias from the media.
Remembering her first date with Trump, Melania explained how he took her along on a business trip to examine properties. “We went to the on the first date, if you could call it a date, because it was mixed with professionalism,” she noted. “Completely understand now that I know him more, that was so it was so him, and I liked in one way about it, because I, you know, I was the same, and I love the vision that he had and the connection that we had.”
Earhardt then said, “You get in the car and drives to you Bedford and outside of the city, what an hour outside of the city, and he wanted to show you a business or some property that he had, so he was combining business with taking you on a first date.” Melania maintained that despite it being mixed with business interests, the two had a wonderful time together.
Further describing the intimate time she spent with Trump, Melania said, “It was very nice, because we were two of us alone in the car for hour, hour and a half, and it’s no other noise, no other people, because at that time, he was already known and a celebrity. So it was really nice to be just two of us.” Earhardt asked the former first lady, “Did you fall in love? Then?” Melania answered, “It was a connection. It was a connection.”
Earhardt wondered if, at the time, Trump had expressed interest in getting involved in politics and eventually leading the nation as the president. Melania explained that while Trump hadn’t demonstrated this interest yet, he was always “in tune” with politics. “So not that he would be the president, but he always was involved in politics. He was very in tune what’s going on in the world, especially in this country,” she said.
Melania also explained during the interview how her monumental career in the fashion industry prepared her for the intense pressures of being the First Lady of the United States amid such a polarized time in the country’s history. “I think nothing prepared me more to be first lady in front of the world than the fashion industry. the fashion industry, it’s glamorous, but it’s at the same time, very tough, and as everybody judges you, looks at you certain way. So it’s, it can be a mean world, as well. So, nothing prepared me more, for, for this world than fashion. It gives you a thick skin, so it was.” she said.
