Megyn Kelly Shreds Sally Fields for Virtue Signaling, Apologizing for Being a “White Girl” at SAG Awards

Megyn Kelly had some harsh words for Sally Field in the wake of Fields’s embarrassing apology for being a “white girl” during her SAG Awards speech. Field made the comment when giving a speech after winning a lifetime achievement award, diminishing her own struggle as a small-town girl not blessed. She then, after denigrating herself, boosted black women, who she assumed had been oppressed and had not received fair career opportunities.

In the speech, Field said “I was a little White girl with a pug-nose born in Pasadena, California. And when I look around this room tonight, I know my fight – as hard as it was ― was lightweight compared to some of yours. I thank you and I applaud you.”

Kelly ripped into those comments during her show on Sirius XM, “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast. Speaking to Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Pinsky about what Field said at the SAG Awards, she asked why she felt the need to say she was “sorry for being a little white girl with privilege.”

Commenting on that and mocking the actress, Kelly said “It’s ridiculous. Sally Field could get up there and say, ‘I came up with the industry where the casting couch was alive and well. That’s why we produced people like Harvey Weinstein, and too many women from Marilyn Monroe forward have had to be subjected to that nonsense in order to get on the big screen. So I’m grateful for the opportunities that I created for myself.'”

Kelly continued, “No, she’s basically got to be like, ‘I’m the little white girl from Pasadena, and I basically suffered nothing like you people did here in this room.’ How does she know? It’s so diminishing to people of color who are in the room. Does she just assume they’re all oppressed?”

That came after Kelly mocked the mindset behind the comments that Field made and many others like her have made, sarcastically saying “Because news flash, white girls in America don’t have any troubles that are worth remembering when you’re in front of a group that has a lot of people of color. It’s such bologna, Dr. Drew. It’s such pathetic, obvious virtue signaling.”

Adam Carolla suggested that Field and those like her say such things because they feel the pressure to do so in order to stay employed in woke Hollywood, telling Kelly “Actors need employment, and as we’ve seen over the last few years, people will cancel anybody, and they’ll never come back. So, giving speeches about systemic racism makes you more employable.”
Responding, Kelly said they need to cut it out anyway, telling Carolla “Maybe [Field] can help by stopping the continuation of dividing us all so much. Could you just shut up? Just f***ing say thank you, honestly.”
