In yet another pleasant surprise from now-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, a campaign pledge of booting some much despised (on the right) leftist representatives from their committee assignments has been fulfilled. The Daily Wire, reporting on that pledge being fulfilled and what committees the leftist representatives have been kicked off of, said:
“Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is bouncing three top Democrats, including one who allegedly had an affair with a Chinese spy and another who pushed the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, from plum committees.
“McCarthy, who took the gavel from Nancy Pelosi after the GOP eked out a majority in the November midterms, is wasting no time following through on pledges he made in November. California Democrats Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell were booted from the House Intelligence Committee, and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has repeatedly been accused of anti-Semitism, is off the Foreign Affairs Committee, McCarthy told The Associated Press Monday night.”
Adding more details on how the booted Democrats earned the fierce hatred of the right and why it was those three that got booted from their committees as opposed to other, much-disliked and attacked leftists such as AOC, Nancy Pelosi, or Jerry Nadler, the Daily Wire also reported that:
Swalwell has denied reports that he had an affair nearly 10 years ago with Fang Fang, who posed as a political supporter but was later revealed to be a Chinese spy. Schiff became a fixture on far-left cable news networks during the Mueller probe of former President Trump, insisting he had seen classified evidence that linked Trump to the Kremlin.
Omar, a Somali refugee and member of the so-called “Squad,” has repeatedly been accused of anti-Semitism, including for a 2019 tweet in which she suggested Jews buy political clout.
McCarthy’s claim that he would boot those representatives from their committee assignments came in November when he, speaking to Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures”, said:
“One thing I said from the very beginning, Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So, I will not allow him to be on Intel.”
“You have Adam Schiff, who lied to the American public time and again – we will not allow him to be on the Intel Committee either. Look at Congresswoman Omar, her antisemitic comments that have gone forward. We’re not going to allow her to be on Foreign Affairs.”
“But we’re also going to stand up to what’s happening, not just in the halls in Congress, but what’s happening to our higher education institutions, the antisemitism that’s going on on these campuses and others. We will investigate that as well and stop this to make sure that America does have the freedoms that we said we would keep, and we will stand up to it as we move forward.”
So, somewhat surprisingly, McCarthy fulfilled that pledge and actually booted the Democrats off the committee rather than letting them stick around.
