Far-left Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is under attack, and rightly so, after making a series of absolutely awful comments about America’s sweet and much-beloved First Lady, Melania Trump, during a speech given to a large crowd of furious leftists in Los Angeles, California.
As background, the event at which Rep. Waters made her horrid attacks against First Lady Melania Trump was a rally meant to drum up support for dismantling the Trump-created and Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Though that’s what the speech was ostensibly about, Rep. Waters ended up throwing personal jabs, including at Melania.
That came when the woke representative, drifting off track and away from the DOGE matter, ended up attacking President Trump’s stance on birthright citizenship, which he has attempted to abolish via executive order. She said, in her rant on that, “When he [President Trump] talks about birthright, and he’s going to undo the fact that the Constitution allows those who are born here, even if the parents are undocumented, they have a right to stay in America.”
Continuing, the far-left member of Congress started attacking Melania Trump, who was born in Novo Mesto, Yugoslavia, which is now part of present-day Slovenia, falsely suggesting that Melania is an illegal immigrant. Waters said, “If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania.”
For reference, Melania is not an illegal immigrant. She immigrated to America to pursue an acting career while following all the proper channels for doing so, and became a naturalized United States citizen in 2006. She is the only first lady other than Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams, wife of President John Quincy Adams, to be a naturalized citizen.
In any case, Rep. Waters wasn’t yet done with her startlingly awful personal attacks on Melania. Adding to it as the crowd roared with laughter and applause for her insults of the first lady, Waters claimed, “We don’t know whether or not her parents were documented. And maybe we better just take a look.”
That was also an absurd lie. Melania’s parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, followed her to America through legal channels and became naturalized U.S. citizens in 2018. First Lady Melania’s citizenship is not, unlike with children of illegal immigrants born here, connected to her parents being in America when she was born, as she was born in Slovenia and immigrated here legally later in life.

As could be expected, Conservatives sounded off on Waters over the matter. X conservative commentator Kyle Becker, for example, wrote, “Maxine Waters is back. She’s now calling for Melania Trump to be deported. Melania Trump is an American citizen. Earlier, she called for Elon Musk to be deported. Also, an American citizen. Democrats are insufferable. No one can be this dumb.”
Similarly, the “Western Lensman” X account wrote, noting that Democrats are only going to make themselves yet more unpopular with these vituperative attacks, “
Deranged Maxine Waters rages about DOGE, floats idea to Trump: Deport Melania. Democrats are determined to drive their approval numbers below 20%”
Still another poster wrote that if Maxine wants to deport Melania, perhaps it is Maxine who should be deported. That poster on X wrote “If Maxine Waters thinks we can deport American citizens like Melania Trump, then we can also deport Maxine Waters. Shall we? Maxine is an angry hot mess.”
