In a wild, and so far unproven but nevertheless interesting and eyebrow-raising claim made to the New York Post, Aimee Bock, the founder of the “Feeding Our Future” non-profit behind Minnesota’s massive meal fraud scandal that saw $250 million swiped from taxpayers by fraudsters, alleged that “Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) “was in on” the scam. Bock was the “mastermind” of the scam.
As background, Bock was convicted in March of 2025 for a slew of charges involving conspiracy, bribery, and wire fraud. She allegedly was the one who helped organize the scheme, and aided Somali restaurant owners and others get involved in filing fake claims that defrauded taxpayers out of gobs of money throughout the “Feeding Our Future” scandal.
She is yet to be sentenced but remains in jail as she awaits sentencing, and so speaking to the New York Post from Sherburn County Jail via video call, the NYP reported, she insisted that Rep. Ilhan Omar must have known what was going on with the scandal. “I struggle to believe that she wouldn’t have known,” Bock said, speaking of the “Squad” congresswoman, the NYP reports.
Bock has also maintained her innocence, somewhat dubiously, insisting that she doesn’t speak the language and wasn’t knowledgeable of the ongoing Feeding Our Future fraud, “The notion that I’m personally responsible for all of it . . . is so frustrating. I’m the only white person out of 80 or 90 individuals [charged in the fraud]. I’m the only one that doesn’t speak the language,” she added when speaking to the New York Post for the report.
Bock then explained why she thinks Omar was involved, pointing to a certain set of waivers with which the Congresswoman was deeply involved. Particularly, the congresswoman pushed forward and introduced the MEALS Act to Congress in March of 2020. That act allowed the US Department of Agriculture to issue certain waivers during the pandemic for school meals, which dramatically loosened up the program and allowed restaurants to participate without even being subject to on-site inspections of the sort that would normally be done.
That’s not all. Bock also alleged that Rep. Omar would personally step in to sort out the situation in favor of the Somali restaurant owners when the waivers ran out. Bock claimed to the NYP that Omar’s doing so is what allowed the rampant “Feeding Our Future” fraud to continue.
Explaining as much in her claims to the New York Post, Bock reportedly said, “There had been a couple times early on that there were some gaps – a waiver would be set to expire on maybe the 15th of a month, and then the renewal didn’t kick in until the 1st.” She continued, “Because of course this was supposed to be a short-term thing . . . we were supposed to be home for two weeks.”

Bock added, further commenting on that, “A lot of the sites were working directly with her, being that a lot of the operators were from the same Somali community.” She then explained, “There were a lot of people that had been reaching out to her office and staff — and I presume her personally — to work through some of those gaps with the waivers.”
There was still more. Bock also alleged that she reported fraudulent activities to the Minnesota Department of Education. “I have the emails that show that I told you, so you knew,” she said. She added, “I struggle to believe that we notified them and they didn’t alert the governor – or our state or federal officials.”
