Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) was unsuccessful in his goal to use the deportation of suspected gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia to virtue signal. Ivey had planned to visit Garcia in a Salvadoran prison but was blocked by local authorities, which led to a social media meltdown.
For context, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was deported to El Salvador for his deep ties to MS-13. However, Liberals have rallied around the criminal and cast the decision to remove him as a mistake. However, the president and his cabinet members have successfully demolished this misleading narrative.
Complainin about the situation, the DEmcorat said, “And I won’t tell you what I said, but I mean, it’s ridiculous that an international delegation would get that kind of treatment, especially when we’re making this kind of request,” adding, “It was a clear run around and not a way that a foreign government should be treating the Congress of the United States.”
Still not done complaining, he said, “We believe he is, and we believe he’s at Santa Ana. But they didn’t confirm that yesterday. So it was kind of a runaround.” Continuing, That’s un-American. That’s not what we should be doing.”
Taking to social media to air his grievances, Ivey made a post to X on May 27, 2025. He whined, “I traveled to El Salvador to conduct a wellness check on my constituent, Kilmar Ábrego Garcia. I kept my word, but when I arrived, I was denied access to see him. Kilmar deserves due process and his rightful day in court. We need to bring him home. I won’t stop until we do.#BringKilmarHome #DueProcessNow”
In the comments under his post, conservatives harshly criticized the melodramatic Democrat. One such comment read, “Garcia was illegally deported despite protected status, leaving his family in anguish. The U.S. must uphold due process and bring him home. Thank you, Rep. Ivey, for not backing down from this critical cause.”
Slamming the woke Rep. Ivey, another user said, “A representative of gang members and criminals? Stop lying to your other criminals and gang member constituents. Kilmar appeared before 2 judges. He had due process. When you say his day in court you mean until he appears before an un-American activist judge who abuses their authority in defiance of The Will of The People.”

Building on the same point, one comment noted, “He is not your constituent. He was an illegal alien that was deported to his home country. You have no jurisdiction outside of the US. You are a US Congressman and have no right to make demands of a foreign government. Your lawyer has no jurisdiction either. Stop spending our $.”
Continuing the social media beatdown, other users called out the Maryland Democrat for hi stupid plan. One such comment read, ” You were denied access to the citizen of a foreign country in a prison of their country by their country’s government?” Another replied, “Virtue signaling never works out. We have all seen the paperwork he is a citizen of El Salvador and a known member of MS-13. You are embarrassing yourself. 🤡”
