Major Update in Ashli Babbitt Court Case

A major update has occurred in the tragic death of Ashli Babbitt, who was killed by the Capitol Police during the January 6th protests. According to reports, a settlement has been reached between her estate and the capital city police, indicating that we may finally be seeing justice in this case.

For context, Ashli Babbitt was shot during the post-2020 election protests by police officer Michael Byrd. Since then, she has become a rallying point for conservatives who were concerned about the massive government power grab in the wake of the riot.

In any case, prominent conservative voice Eric Daugherty broke the news on May 2, 2025. He posted, “🚨 BREAKING: A settlement in principle has been REACHED for Ashli Babbitt in lawsuit, who was k*lled during Jan. 6th by a Capitol officer, Trump administration confirms – POLITICO.”

In the comments under his post, conservatives flocked to express their approval for the settlement, although some were hoping for a criminal prosecution. One such comment read, “Glad to see accountability being addressed. Every life matters, and transparency is crucial for trust in our institutions.” Building on this point, another added, “A significant step in the aftermath of January 6th, with legal closure for Ashli Babbitt’s case.”

Other users were content to decry the senseless loss of life. One comment in this vein read, “Death is a tragedy, a microcosm of that chaotic moment. Reconciliation may be motivated by practical considerations, but it also reminds us that political radicalization ultimately hurts ordinary people. Regardless of stance, violence should not be encouraged, nor should it be deified.”

Rejoicing that her family saw some compensation, a reply noted, “Her relatives certainly deserve compensation. The bigger question is the extent to which people in positions of power orchestrated the killing.” Responding, another user said, “I was thinking of her name just a few days ago because I hadn’t heard in a while. Hopefully her family gets a settlement that they can move on to other things.”

However, the story of January 6th goes much deeper than some would suppose. As we reported, Obama-appointed Judge James Boasberg openly called for stricter laws to punish January 6 defendants, claiming the current statutes were insufficient.

Giving his take on the issue, the woke judge said, “A lot of laws still to be made.” Matching the defendants’ alleged crimes to statutes is one challenge, and there were no statutes that were written that said, ‘it is a criminal offense to storm the capital and interfere with the counting of certification of the electoral college after the presidential election.”

Slamming Boasberg, President Trump made a post to Truth Social. His post read, “This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker, and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President – He didn’t WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn’t WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn’t WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING!”
