In a post on Instagram, former reality star Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard announced that, in a heartbreaking incident for their family, their first daughter had been born stillborn on Saturday, April 13. The two are already parents to three boys, and had not announced at any point during Duggar’s pregnancy that they were expecting.
Posting on Jill Duggar’s Instagram about the sad matter, they said, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard. Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero. From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby.”
Continuing, they wrote, “Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie. 😭🩷”
Replying, one commenter told them, “It might sound odd, but I want to offer you congrats on your darling Isla Marie, how I wish she could’ve stayed in your belly and arms as she was supposed to. Thank you for sharing your daughter with us, she is loved. There is nothing that compares to grieving the death of one of your children and dont let anyone dismiss you in your grief since you have living kids and since you met Ms Isla sooner than expected too. Your grief is valid, your love is real. Isla, you are loved and missed. 🩷”
Another commenter added, “Isla Marie is such a beautiful name. We are so sorry for your loss, and praying for your sweet family. Love you all. ❤️” Still another said they would be reunited in heaven, saying, “We lost our baby girl around the same age, and named her Isla Joy. I’m so, so sorry you’re walking this road. What a joyous reunion awaits in heaven.”
Yet another commenter offered prayers in response to the terrible familial tragedy, saying, “Isla Marie such a beautiful name and meaning. Praying continuously.. God has a plan through all the heartbreak. You’ve been on my mind and in our prayers and will continue to be. 💕 We love y’all so much.”
Duggar, describing on her family website how she came to her Christian faith, wrote, “One evening when I was 12, I was talking with my mom. I realized I wasn’t sure that if I died I would have eternal life. I did like it says in the Bible (Romans 10:9), ‘if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.'”
Continuing, she added, “I confessed all the wrong things I could remember to my mom and God. I asked Him in prayer to take complete control of my life and take me to heaven when I die. Not too long after that, my dad baptized me at our church.”
