Vice presidential candidate JD Vance confidently defended his wife during the campaign trail after facing abhorrent attacks toward his wife, Usha Vance, regarding her ethnicity. Addressing the derogatory comments made about his wife earlier this year while speaking with Megyn Kelly, the vice president-elect maintained, “Look I love my wife so much,” while praising her role as a loving mother.
In his appearance on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Vance told the conservative commentator , “Look, I love my wife so much. I love her because she’s who she is.” He added, “Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha.” He emphasized, “She is such a good mom.”
Vance also applauded Usha’s professional accolades, stating, “She’s such a brilliant lawyer, and I’m so proud of her.” The Ohio senator also weighed in on how he has observed her experience as a mother and the implications toward the current state of the American family. “But yes, her experience has given me some perspective on the way in which it’s really hard for working families in this country,” he said.
As background, political commentator Nick Fuentes had previously attacked JD and Usha Vance, where he claimed Vance “doesn’t value his racial identity or his heritage.” He further noted, “What kind of man marries somebody named Usha?”
Fuentes also said, “JD Vance also has an Indian wife and a kid named Vivek.” Continuing to criticize Vance, Fuentes said, “All his kids have Indian names, so it’s like, what exactly are we getting here?” Fuentes continued in his criticism, “Who is this guy, really? Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?”
The American Tribune reported on Vance further addressing the attacks from Fuentes against his family during a “Face the Nation” interview with host Margaret Brennan. Brennan asked Vance, “In your own movement. That’s what I want to ask about, because one of the supremacists who was saying things like this about your family, Nick Fuentes, an avowed anti Semite, went after your wife, he had previously died at Mar a Lago with Donald Trump. Does this have any room in your movement, in the MAGA movement?”
Vance maintained, “Of course, it doesn’t have any room in the MAGA movement. And of course,” Brennan interjected, “You disavow him?” The Ohio senator continued, “And of course Donald Trump has criticized this person. Look, I think the guy is a total loser. Certainly I disavow him. But if you ask me, What I care more about, is it a person attacking me personally, or is a government policy that discriminates based on race, that’s what I really worry about.”
