Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the son of RFK and nephew of JFK who is now running for president and impressing many on the populist right and left with his powerful calls for defending and promoting the health and vitality of ordinary Americans, being skeptical of Big Pharma, and calling out Uniparty malfeasance.
As a result, the Establishment which he calls out hates him. It also, if Mr. Kennedy is to be believed, is preparing to start pulling out all the stops to drag him down as he fights for the Democratic 2024 nomination.
That comment came in a recent interview with Forbes, during which RFK Jr. explained why he thinks the DNC is attempting to avoid a primary and explained how they are attempting to strangle his presidential campaign in the cradle to help out Biden’s reelection campaign.
Beginning, Mr. Kennedy explained how he views the DNC as having tried to fix the rules of the race, saying, “It’s pretty clear that the DNC does not want a primary. They, you know, I don’t want to say that they want a coordination, but that’s, I think that, that’s a fair way to put it actually. Um, they’re doing. They’re, they’re, essentially, they’re fixing the process so that it makes it almost impossible to have democracy function. It, they, they’re effectively disenfranchising the Democratic voters from, from having any choice in who becomes president, who becomes the Democratic nominee. So two of the things they’ve done today is they’ve moved the, the Iowa primary, they’ve made rules that if anybody campaigns in Iowa, or sets foot, any candidate sets foot in the state of Ohio, or sets foot in the state of New Hampshire, then none of the votes that are cast for that candidate will be, will be, tallied. In other words, any delegate that I went in, and New Hampshire, Iowa would go instead to the President. And, and now they’re trying to change it so that if I campaigned in New Hampshire, that none of the votes cast for me in Georgia will count. That’s significant because it’s hard to win the nomination without Georgia.”
Then, when asked what the logic of the DNC is in doing that, Mr. Kennedy said, “Well, they’re reading it so that it, you know, effectively, you know, we’re looking at the tabulations now that look like, if you add up all the super delegates that they control, and all of the automatic delegates that just go to the party and go to the president enter, you know, I would have to add on us 80% of all of the states in order to beat President Biden, even if he only wins, 20%.”
Responding to that dire prediction, the interviewer asked, “And yet, and yet, you you continue on. So what is your strategy, then in light of this for defeating President Biden?”
That’s when Mr. Kennedy said that there is still a glimmer of hope, as the rules have not yet been finalized and his campaign is pushing back with everything it’s got. He said, “You know, these rules will not be finalized until September 14, and we’ve written the DNC protesting. I mean, there’s some really wild things that they’re now considering, including forcing me actually pay for the primaries, and their logic is that they don’t need a primary because they already have a candidate. And therefore, I’m costing them all this money, and that money should should be paid for by me. And, you know, maybe Marianne Williamson. So it’s not, you know, it’s a process that is rigged. And it’s, you know, we live at a time in American history, when a lot of Americans think that democracy is broken, that the system the political system is rigged, is rigged, and that there’s not really any democracy, and unfortunately, the DNC is taking a lot of steps that confirm that outlook.”
He was then again asked how he could overcome the rule change, if such a change is enforced: “If the decision holds, for the current, you know, sort of primary structure with the DNC, what is the best? What is the route to victory for you? against President Biden?”
That’s when he suggested that he might look for another path forward, potentially meaning a third party run could be in the cards. He said, “Oh, you know, if the if the, if the DNC is going to make it, it’s going to rig it so that it is simply impossible for anybody to challenge President Biden, then, you know, I need to look at other alternatives. Because I can’t go back to the people support me and to my donors and say, you know, I’m in, you know, I’m just going to I’m in this to make a point, I need to, I need to show them a road to [victory].”
The interviewer caught on to what he was suggesting, asking, “what actually, what kind of alternatives would you be exploring? Mr. Kennedy?”
But Kennedy refused to reveal his full plans yet, simply saying, “You know, I don’t know exactly, because I want to see what the DNC does. I want to see if they make if they, you know, if they make a fair contest, and I, you know, I’m not asking you to be 100% fair, but I’m asking that there at least be you know, a chance that it’d be plausible for somebody else to win other than their, you know, chosen anointed candidate.”
