“Philly Girl” Jill Biden returned to the City of Brotherly Love and got more than she bargained for while making an appearance as one of the Eagle’s honorary captains. Various Twitter accounts reported in real-time that FLOTUS was being welcomed with cacophonous jeers and Fox News picked up the story this morning.
Here’s how it was going:
It’s a special night for this Philly girl — I get to cheer on my @Eagles alongside these brave cancer survivors and their families.
Thank you @NFL for raising awareness through Crucial Catch. We all have a role to play in ending cancer as we know it. #CancerMoonshot pic.twitter.com/VfCdbrl2ce

And here’s how it ended:
FLOTUS Jill Biden at midfield for coin flip. She gets booed. #Eagles win toss. Defer. Dallas starts with ball.

FLOTUS Dr. Jill Biden gets booed. Being an "Eagles fan" didn't save her #DALvsPHI

According to Fox News, Jill Biden was attending the game to promote what the Biden administration is calling the Cancer Moonshot initiative:
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Biden was at the event to promote the White House’s Cancer Moonshot initiative. She was joined on the field by cancer patients and survivors as well as their families
The timing couldn’t have come soon enough, as Joe Biden previously announced he had cancer, which could either be true given his decrepit state of existence or false given his inability to speak English coherently. A few months back, Joe Biden said this:
Cancer? This is either the biggest bombshell in presidential history or the biggest gaffe. https://t.co/oFu1hH2gzK

Previously, Joe Biden made the overt reference to JFK (hence moonshot) by announcing that once his administration defeated Covid, they would next defeat cancer. He said in 2021: “I want you to know that once we beat COVID, we’re gonna do everything we can to end cancer as we know it.”
For her part, Jill Biden actually appeared appropriately dressed for the occasion, wearing a simple jacket over Eagles gear. This notably-subdued dress is a far cry from previous public engagements that gave rise to an entire Twitter account that had fun creating side-by-side images of the doctor wearing garish outfits and their commensurate upholstery.
The Blue State Conservative wrote this about Jill Biden’s questionable fashion choices:
A relatively unknown and anonymous Twitter user is causing uproarious laughter on the internet after posting a thread of several side-by-side photographs featuring Jill Biden and various couches. Whereas former FLOTUS Melania Trump was graceful, beautiful, and always wearing classy ensembles, Taco Biden can barely manage to do her best to imitate the Von Trapp children.
Saying this is their new hobby, the user asks us to consider what couch Jill Biden’s latest outfit came from.

InStyle defended the First Lady’s eye-gouging dressing, even going to far to credit her with style and acknowledging she didn’t need help from others.
Whereas Obama hired a stylist to dig into designer histories — someone to find the most meaningful and stylish pieces in an effort to elevate emerging American designers and communicate her values — Biden has made the decision to do this herself. This doesn’t appear to be rooted in a deep love of fashion, even if that is the case, but in her desire to maintain as much of her pre-first lady life as possible, from her job to how she chooses to fill her closet.
The role of the modern first lady is a challenging one to define, especially following a hellish year for the country. With her insistence upon keeping her life as normal as possible, Biden seems to be defining the role of FLOTUS all her own. Rather than transforming into what a first lady ought to be, she simply is.
