“Lock Him Up”: Notorious Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke Faces Prosecution, Jail Time from Texas AG Over Alleged Court Order Violation

In some very big news out of the Lone Star State, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is pushing to have law enforcement officers arrest notorious Democrat politician and fundraiser Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke for violations of a court order banning him from fundraising for the Democrats in the Texas House who fled the state.

As background, Beto’s fundraising group originally got in trouble when it started fundraising for the various Democratic members of the Texas House who fled from the state to block the legislature from having a quorum and thus being able to vote on the redistricting bill that will get rid of five Democratic districts, including Jasmine Crockett’s.

AG Paxton quickly began an investigation of the fundraising group for that, saying, “According to public reports, Powered by People has been one of the top groups bankrolling the Texas House Democrat members who abandoned Texans and vacated their offices. By providing these liberal lawmakers with the funds to flee the state, Powered by People may have violated bribery laws.”

Continuing, the attorney general explained that fundraising for the lawbreaking representatives is illegal under Texas law, saying, “Powered by People and the runaway Democrats may have also violated other Texas laws, including, but not limited to, those governing campaign or officeholder contributions and expenditures, coercion of a public servant, and abuse of office.”

So, to stop Beto from illegal fundraising meant to help the Democrats who fled, AG Paxton asked a district court to bar both the group and Beto specifically from fundraising for them. The judge agreed, and issued a temporary restraining order blocking him from fundraising on behalf of the Democrats who had broken the law by fleeing.

AG Paxton, commenting on that court order, said, “The Beto Bribe buyouts that were bankrolling the runaway Democrats have been officially stopped.” He added, “People like Robert believe Texas can be bought. Today, I stopped his deceptive financial influence scheme that attempted to deceive donors and subvert our constitutional process. They told me to ‘come and take it,’ so I did.”

Now, AG Paxton is alleging that O’Rourke violated the restraining order and is therefore subject to both a fine of up to $500 and jail time of up to six months behind bars. Commenting on that matter in a statement issue on Tuesday, August 12, AG Paxton said, “Beto told me ‘to come and take,’ so I did and beat him in court. Now, he still thinks he’s above the law, so I’m working to put him behind bars.”

Continuing the new statement, AG Paxton said, “Robert Francis flagrantly and knowingly violated the court order I secured that prevents him from raising funds and distributing any more Beto Bribes. He’s about to find out that running your mouth and ignoring the rule of law has consequences in Texas. It’s time to lock him up.”

Further, in response to Beto’s claim that he had been treated unfairly, AG Paxton noted that the judge is a fair referee of the facts and that O’Rourke is breaking the law, saying, “There is a referee—the Honorable Megan Fahey—and there are rules—namely, that a person violating a temporary restraining order can be fined up to $500 and jailed for up to six months.”
