Self-righteous New York Democratic Governor Hochul is facing increased scrutiny over vetoing bills, including five from Senator Skoufis, with 72 bills pending as of Friday. In a desperate attempt to defend Hochul, her spokesperson, Kara Cumoletti, emphasized decisions are merit-based, but an anonymous source suggested personal politics influence vetoes, hinting at a negative bias towards Skoufis-sponsored bills.
For context, NYPIRG’s Blair Horner and Senate spokesman Mike Murphy criticized vetoes driven by personal disputes rather than good governance. Skoufis downplayed the vetoes, calling them a “faux flex” and mocking Hochul’s persona.
In any case, in a blistering post to social media, conservative firebrand Elise Stefanik blasted the controversial governor. “Kathy Hochul is the Worst Governor in America, and everyone – even Democrats – know it’s true. Want to know what a joke @KathyHochul is to elected leaders in her own Democrat Party? Here is what a Democrat Senator says about Kathy 👇,” she said before linking to a quote from a New York state senator. Senator Skoufis.
Similarly annoyed by Hochul, Skoufis savaged the Governor, saying, “Everyone — literally everyone — laughs behind her back over the contrived ‘tough guy’ persona she desperately tries to project. God bless the Governor’s petty little heart.”
In a vain attempt to defend her record, Hochul spokesperson Kara Cumoletti made a statement. “The governor evaluates all legislation on its merits,” she whined. However, an anonymous source in the governor’s communications had a different reaction. “If I were an advocate or industry group, I would probably be thinking about a different sponsor for my bill next year,” the source said.
Disgusted by the apparent bias, NYPIRG’s Blair Horner slammed Hochul. Horner declared, “New Yorkers should expect that approval and veto decisions are made purely on the merits of the bills that come to the governor’s desk.”
Seemingly worried, Senate Democratic spokesman Mike Murphy hoped Hochul was acting better than many have reported, hoping, “I would hope decisions are based on policy differences, not personal disagreements.”

Rounding out the condemnations, conservative group, Reinvent Albany, explained, “The Governor says in her veto message that one of her reasons for rejecting the FOIL timing bill is that agencies can’t implement it because they don’t have the needed funding. Yet, the Governor controls that agency funding.”
This is far from the only scandal facing Kathy Hochul, as we reported. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has threatened to withhold funding over the dangerous and unsafe conditions on New York City subways, prompting a massive freakout.
Blasting the entitled Democrat, he said, “We give millions of dollars a year to the New York subway, and part of the requirement is they keep it safe, and so, what we’re going to do is say, ‘Listen, if you can’t keep your subways safe. If people can’t go to the subway and not be afraid of being stabbed or thrown in front of tracks or burnt, and we can’t consider the subway a subway and not a homeless shelter, we’re going to pull your money.’”
Floundering, Hochul issued a series of hash statements to shift responsibility. “Tell Sean Duffy, we’ve got this. We’ll take care of what’s happening underground. You take care what’s happened in the skies. Keep our skies and other transportation networks safe, and I know how to find you if I need help. I’ve got your number.”
