Alica Schmidt, a German track and field star who was dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete” before the start of the Tokyo Olympic Games, is posting on Instagram in preparation for the new season.
In fact, Schmidt posted a photo from a track in Spain preparing for the late spring and summer track schedule, saying, “Season is about to start, let‘s have some fun 🕺🏼🥰 #trackandfield.” Fox News Digital, reporting on how Schmidt and her team have done recently, said:
Schmidt is an accomplished track athlete on the European circuit. In 2017, she helped the German team to a silver medal in the 4×400 relay at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships. Schmidt and her teammates won a bronze medal at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships.
The team would finish in sixth place in the 2022 European Championships. She and her team also failed to qualify at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
Schmidt, for her part, admitted that the team could have done better at the time, saying, “Not the result we wanted in yesterday‘s 4×4 mixed relay and we know that we are capable of a lot more. But heads up and on to the next one! 4x400m relay on Saturday next week … nevertheless I‘m thankful to be here on my first world championships and gain a lot of experience.“
Schmidt also had a disappointing Tokyo Olympics, though she quickly followed that up with a modeling appearance, as Fox News Digital reported, saying:
Schmidt modeled clothing from the fashion brand’s second season of its Russell Athletic capsule collection — which included a grey blazer dress, Boss hat, tall socks and sneakers.
The athlete shared the spotlight with supermodels Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls and Irina Shayk, among other high-profile models.
Schmidt shared photos to Instagram along with a clip of her on the “runway” – which was set on a baseball field – with the caption, “Yesterday was a blast, thank you so much for having me.”
That modeling has continued, with Schmidt recently announcing a clothing partnership with BOSS by Hugo Boss, saying, “My new @boss x Alica collection is out now 🥰🙌🏼🥺✨ Shop the items online or at the @boss store ☺️ can‘t wait to here your feedback and see you in my athleisure collection🔥”
The New York Post, reporting on how Schmidt won the “World’s Sexiest Athlete” title, said:
Australian magazine Busted Coverage elevated Schmidt to celebrity status by handing her the baton of sexiest athlete three years ago.
But such treatment seems to sit a little uneasily with one of Germany’s top starlets of the track.
“I do not know why I got this title. Sport comes clearly first,” she has said.
“There are thousands of girls on Instagram who look good and still do not have as many fans.”
