“Let Her Speak”: Sen. John Kennedy Hilariously Obliterates AOC with Clever One-Liner

Speaking in a town hall event that was mainly about foreign policy and the federal budget, United States Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) turned the somewhat dry segment into gut-busting hilarity with his droll humor, joking that all Republicans need to do to dismantle AOC and her supposed leadership of the Democratic Party is “let her speak.”

As background, the show in which Sen. Kennedy made his funny and sharp one-liners about AOC was a Fox News town hall hosted by FNC host “Sean Hannity” in Washington, D.C., on the night of Wednesday, April 9. While a number of senators sat for the town hall, it was Sen. Kennedy who stole the show with his zingers about AOC.

His comments came when Hannity asked him about the current state of leadership of the Democratic Party, particularly whether he sees members of Congress like Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), or Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) as being able to displace longtime Democratic Party leaders like Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-CA).

Pressing the senator on that point, Hannity asked, “So, what do you think of the new leadership: Jasmine, AOC, and Bernie?” Responding, Sen. Kennedy explained that he thinks the actual leader right now is not Sen. Sanders or Rep. Crockett, but rather AOC, and that he thinks she is an imbecile. Beginning, he said, “I consider AOC to be the leader of the Democratic Party.”

Continuing, the often quite funny senator joked that while AOC is entitled to her own opinions, he thinks she is quite dumb. He began, “She’s entitled to her opinion. I’m entitled to mine.” He then added, letting loose with one of his classic one-liners, “As I’ve said about her before, I think she’s the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle.”

Still not done, the senator let fly with yet another hilarious one-liner, saying that all the Republicans need to do to demolish AOC and turn her into a laughing stock amongst the American populace is let her open her mouth. He said, “Our plan for dealing with her is Operation Let Her Speak’.” Watch him here:

Posting about the clip on X (formerly Twitter), the “Overton News” X account noted that Sen. Kennedy didn’t miss a single beat in roasting AOC, writing, “Senator John Kennedy (R–LA) just torched Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when asked about the future of the Democrat Party—and he didn’t miss a beat.” Then, after transcribing the senator’s comments, the account added, “Savage. And spot on.”

Commenters agreed, adding that the senator had been simply hilarious with his one-liners. One such commenter, for example, wrote, “AOC is the reason for instructions on a shampoo bottle…. LMFAO… brilliant.” Another added, “I love listening to him anytime he speaks, there is always something hilarious in his comment or explanation.”

Still others chimed in with similar messages, saying things like “Senator Kennedy is planning on becoming a standup comic if this Senator thingy doesn’t work out for him! He’s the Dave Chappell of Congress!” and “Don’t ya just love Sen Kennedy? He’s so effective and simultaneously so funny. I could listen to him for hours.”
