“Legendary”: University of Texas Football Star Makes His Trump Support Clear Ahead of Big Game

Star University of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers recently publicly expressed his support for President-elect Donald Trump ahead of their victory over the Clemson Tigers in the College Football playoffs last weekend.  A photo of Ewers walking into the game has gone viral on the internet, showing Ewers sporting a navy suit and red tie.  However, a closer inspection of Ewers’ necktie shows a clip that reads “TRUMP.”

Subsequently, conservatives on social media cheered on Ewers for being unafraid to voice his support for Trump.  Sports reporter David Hookstead wrote on X, “Texas QB Quinn Ewers showed up to the playoff game against Clemson wearing a Trump tie clip.”  Another user commented below the post,”So great to see! 90% of the responses are Pro Trump and Pro Quinn. Truth, honesty and common sense has won! America is healing!”

Journalist Eric Daugherty similarly wrote, “🚨 AMAZING: Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers shows up to the game with a Trump tie clip.”  Another user celebrated that MAGA Republicans seem to be more emboldened in expressing their support for Trump.  “Nice… we are now becoming trendy and cool, no longer need to feel like we have to hide!” they wrote.

Ewers has also been praised for continually espousing his Christian faith when speaking to the media, further demonstrating he is a man convicted of his values.  Explaining to a reporter after a game this year, Ewers maintained that he ultimately looks to Jesus Christ to carry him through challenging situations and circumstances.

“Every time we cover you, it seems like your resilience always stands out. How were you processing an early pick and then coming back with a quick touchdown after that?” Ewers was asked by a reporter after a game earlier this year. “I think it’s just the veteran in all of us, you know. I think we played a lot of ball,” the quarterback responded, while putting on a golden cowboy hat.

“We understand adversity is going to strike, and at the end of the day, it’s how you come back and it’s how you respond. It’s 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you react so, you know, I just lean on Jesus, and He just continues to put me through adverse times,” the standout quarterback responded.  Furthermore, Ewers shared a crucial piece of wisdom that man is not defined by his earthly toil.

“God has told me that this game doesn’t define me as a human being, which allows me to play more freely,” he added. “I think really that’s just been the biggest thing for me. … Just listening to Him more and not just focusing on my own ways and knowing that He has a plan for me and to pursue His truth and to continue to seek His truth.”
