Dionne Warwick took some time out of her day to speak about her relationship with God and what it meant to her. While talking about her fait hand and her tendency to pray when times get tough, she also spent a few moments discussing her admiration and relationship with Elvis Presley, one of Rock and Roll”s greatest icons.
While the star singer is gaining, reaching 83 years old last year, she has continued to work hard to make music and to share her love of God as far and wide as her platform would allow. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Dionne said, “It’s my whole being. It’s what I live by, it’s what I thrive on. I believe the Heavenly Father is unsurmountable.”
Oftentimes, you can tell a lot about a woman’s faith by the way that her children speak about God. In this case, it is clear that Dionne’s son Damon learned an awful lot from his mother’s insistence on meaningful prayer around the dinner table.
Damon said, “Our entire household puts God first in everything we do. We pray on it, and we leave a lot on God’s plate. A lot of people come to us and say, ‘I’m praying for you,’ and I don’t know, you know, I’m not in their business. If they are, they’re not. But when we say it, we truly mean it and that’s, that’s just what it is. You know, we pray for each other and God first, always. “
Dionne also took a moment to fawn over her relationship with Elvis Presley and speak about the way that he helped to take her career to a new level. She said of Elvis, “Oh my goodness. First of all, looking at that man was overwhelming. I never seen a man that pretty in my life.”
She continued, “He was so wonderful and so kind to me. He said, ‘You know what I’m going to do? I did something for you.’ I said, ‘What are you going to do?’ He said, ‘I am going to put a photograph of you and another photograph of me in every album in every record store in Las Vegas.’”
Her son Damon took over from there, talking about his mother’s work ethic and answering the question that loomed over every major signer. When asked if he thought the end of her career was approaching, he quickly explained that she loved hard work far too much to give up and recede into retirement with so much passion left in her soul.
Damon said of his mother, “She always said that when it feels like work, then I’ll stop when I’m ready and until then, I’m gonna keep having fun and trucking around this world and doing what I love to do. So, that’s what we do. We try to keep up with her.” With that, the future is sealed. Dionne will continue to work hard to glorify God with her music and to show Elvis that he did a great thing when he stuck his neck out to bolster her career.
