Country music star Toby Keith, known for his service on the USO tours during the Global War on Terror, appearing on bases of all sizes across Iraq and Afghanistan to give the troops a much needed morale boost, passed away from stomach cancer on Monday, February 5. Now the left is celebrating his death and using it to dredge back up a feud between Keith and a woke singer.
As background, when Keith passed away on February 5th, his family released a statement on the matter. In the statement on his passing, Keith’s family said, “Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”
The left then used Keith’s death to relitigate the dead singer’s early 2000s feud with fellow singer Kris Kristofferson and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. That song was “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” released in 2003 as the Iraq War began. Maines, attacking Keith’s song, said, “Don’t get me started. I hate it. It’s ignorant, and it makes country music sound ignorant.“
Keith’s feud with Kristofferson came when he mocked Kristofferson’s leftist political views, saying, “None of that lefty shit out there tonight, Kris.” Kristofferson lost it over the quip, angrily firing back, “What the f-k did you just say to me? You ever worn your country’s uniform?” Kristofferson added, “You heard the question, you just don’t like the answer. Have you ever served your country? The answer is, no, you have not. Have you ever killed another man? Huh? Have you ever taken another man’s life and then cashed the check your country gave you for doing it? No, you have not. So shut the f-k up!”
Predictably, leftists gloated over Keith’s passing and brought those feuds back up. One poster on X, for example, said, “In the end, the Dixie Chicks won. All of their enemies got owned.” That individual added, “The Light of Allah dispels all darkness 🙏🏿”
Another wrote, “Honestly, congrats to Kris Kristofferson for having officially outlived Toby Keith.” Then, after facing backlash for the tweet, that user wrote, “Absolutely wild that so many conservatives are melting down in my mentions right now because I shared an extremely well known anecdote about Toby Keith—a man who famously had multiple songs about entire demographics of people he hated. 🤡🤡🤡”
Relatedly, a similarly minded commenter wrote, “The only thing I know about Toby Keith is that Kris Kristofferson told him off for being a bootlicker. Love you @kkristofferson ❤️” and another added, “kris kristofferson is trending higher than toby keith as it should be.”
Another posted a picture of Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines wearing a “FUKT” shirt, which stands for “F*** You Toby Keith.” That individual captioned the picture by saying, “#FUTK is gonna trend today, as it SHOULD 🙏 In Dixie Chicks we trust!!!”
Watch Keith, always the patriot, tell his fans to never apologize for being patriotic here:
