Lead Trump Impeacher Gets Thrown Out of Office in New York

CNN officially called the Democratic primary race for New York’s 10th Congressional District  for candidate Brad Lander, who went on to defeat Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), one of the most prominent critics of President Donald Trump in Congress. The former New York City comptroller was in the middle of an interview with CNN when anchor Kaitlan Collins broke in and announced that the left-leaning network had officially projected his win.

“We can now project that Brad Lander will defeat the incumbent, Congressman Dan Goldman, in the Democratic primary for New York’s 10th congressional district,” Collins went on to say. “Well, thank you. First of all, obviously I’m thrilled. I did not expect to be on air when the race was called,” Lander replied. Trump celebrated Goldman’s defeat in a post published on his Truth Social account.

“Weak and pathetic Congressman Dan Goldman just lost, BIG! I guess people didn’t like him illegally targeting President TRUMP. In any event, this jerk is finally GONE!” Trump said in the post. The loss is a painful one for Goldman, who built his entire political identity around being a top name in the anti-Trump resistance within the Democratic Party.

Goldman became well-known for being the lead prosecutor in the House impeachment inquiry into President Trump’s pressure campaign on Ukraine, according to a report from Breitbart. Goldman did the lion’s share of the work in the case, grilling witness after witness on live TV. He also played a significant role in shaping the legal framework for Trump’s first impeachment.

Ever since he first got elected to Congress in 2022, Goldman has been a consistent thorn in the side for the president, never wasting a moment to criticize him for something. Goldman used his seat to push aggressively for follow-up probes into Trump, taking the lead on post-January 6th accountability measures while also keeping an almost constant visual presence on cable news, where he spent the majority of his energy picking apart President Trump’s legal strategy and policy platform.

Lander, who is clearly a socialist when it comes to policy, was backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), both of whom are diehard democratic socialists. Much of his campaign against Goldman was spent pointing out that he wasn’t far-left enough. He slammed the incumbent for his support for Israel in the Israel-Hamas war. It’s worth noting that both men are Jewish.

“Almost all of the problems are really coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. … The more internal division and divisiveness, internal fighting, that we have means that [Republicans are] going to continue to push forward with their agenda, which is devastating to American families,” Goldman told Spectrum News NY1 following his defeat.

While President Trump was glad to see Goldman booted from the seat, he’s no fan of Lander. Later in his Truth Social post, the president wrote, “He is wandering aimlessly, together with the former husband of the great Kellyanne Conway, through a large field of Dumocrat Communists, trying so hard to find his way.”
