Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) recently received great news after being locked in a tight race with Democratic challenger Trisha Calvarese as the incumbent Republican successfully won reelection. Boebert, a staunch MAGA Republican and ally of President-elect Donald Trump, faced stiff competition in the deep-blue Centennial State, which voted for Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to reports, Boebert won just under 53 percent of the vote compared to Calvarese’s 43.2 percent. The Associated Press called the race before midnight Easter Time when 82 percent of the vote had been counted. In 2022, Boebert had narrowly won the election in Colorado’s 3rd District, prompting her to relocate to the safer 4th District.
However, Calvarese criticized Boebert, claiming the Republican representative was disrespectful toward veterans and failed to deliver on her agenda.“Rep. Lauren Boebert’s disrespect of veterans, failure to do anything to lower prices, violation of individual freedoms, and willingness to give up America’s competitive edge has galvanized an outpouring of support from across Colorado,” the unsuccessful Democrat challenger said.
During her time in Congress, Rep. Boebert has championed a number of conservative causes in line with the Make American Great Again Agenda. The American Tribune recently reported on resurfaced footage of Boebert slamming the electric vehicle agenda while grilling an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) agent.
“What is the average price of a new combustion engine vehicle compared to the average price of a new electric vehicle?” Boebert asked, to which the agent responded that he didn’t know. “So the average price of a traditional internal combustion engine is was $45,600 while the average price of an electric vehicle was $61,800 and if these unfavorable rules are finalized, your own estimates that I’ve seen suggest 67% of all new cars sold in the US will need to be fully electric by 2032 now,” she said.
Refusing to back down, Boebert continued educating the EPA representative on the substantial increases in prices among EVs where Americans are already crippled by Biden-Harris inflation. “It’s 22%. From May of 2022 to May of 2023 it’s increased 22 22% so it’s not going down in price with these electric vehicles. We’re seeing an increase and and by your own estimates, that the technological costs of this proposal could reach $280 billion that’s increasing manufacturing costs by $1,200 per vehicle,” she said.
Continuing to grill the official during the tense exchange, Boebert maintained, “You’re regulating an industry out of existence here, and we’re seeing that it’s less reliable in Colorado, it’s it’s very common to have temperatures under 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and these, these batteries will not will lose some of their charge. Now I have between 5020 $1,000 to replace an electric vehicles batteries and prolonged exposure to temperatures under 20 degrees can also compromise the electric vehicles battery performance as much as 41% now how do you recommend that hard working families who are struggling to get by absorb these additional costs associated with electric vehicles?”
With Boebert winning her race in Colorado, the Republican Party is in an even greater position to retain an majority in the House. After having already flipped the Senate, future 47th President Donald Trump is in a powerful position heading back into the White House, where the GOP could be in a position to control both chambers of Congress.
