The tragic murder of August University nursing student Laken Riley highlights some of the harsh consequences of rampant illegal immigration. Just days after Riley’s death at the hands of an illegal migrant, her former first-grade teacher, GinaAnn Carlton Riggs, shared a note from the slain nursing student on social media.
Riggs explained that each school year, she would have her students “publish a book” where they discussed topics such as their future plans. Riley’s writings clearly demonstrated her aspiration of becoming a nurse and helping people. Sadly, this dream would never come to fruition.
“Every year I had my first graders publish a book. Each student wrote about their future plans. Laken knew from the time she was six years old that she wanted to be a nurse. She SHOULD have been able to be a nurse,” the teacher shared in her post. Laken wrote in her note, “When I grow up I want to be a nurse because it helps people get better and it looks very fun to help people.”
Riggs concluded her post with two hashtags, ‘#lakenriley’ and ‘#sayhername,’ representing the national outrage surrounding Riley’s horrific murder. Conservatives have particularly called out Democrats for refusing to properly acknowledge the nursing student’s death, claiming it doesn’t fit their narrative.
Riley’s mother, Allyson Phillips, spoke out about her daughter’s murder claiming it was “senseless and avoidable.” Phillips further explained how her relationship with Jesus Christ for helping her endure the hardship of losing Riley.
“As I sat down to write this message, I really just have no words. My family has faced the most devastating, unimaginable loss that anyone could ever be force to endure. I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for being with me and my family during this heartbreaking time. I encourage everyone to have a personal relationship with Jesus. I give Him all the glory for getting us through this,” she said.
Riley showed her appreciation for the support from friends and family, noting that it is helping to ease the pain from the “horrific nightmare,” that could easily shake one’s faith and trust in humanity. “It would be really easy to lose our faith in mankind because of this senseless and avoidable tragedy. The amount of love, support and help that we have received during this horrific nightmare is overwhelming. I can’t begin to tell you all how much we appreciate all of the text, calls, flowers, meals, groceries, bows, pictures, personal gifts, memorials, gift cards and donations to Laken’s foundation,” Phillips added.
Former President Donald Trump also weighed in on Riley’s heart-breaking death, noting that he had spoken with her “devastated” parents. Trump sounded off on Joe Biden for allowing the illegal into the country. “A beautiful 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia was barbarically attacked. She was on a morning run… she was a beautiful young woman,” he said. “I spoke to her parents yesterday, they are incredible people. They are devastated beyond belief. She was so beautiful in so many ways.”
