According to recent reports, Paul Flores, the convicted killer of college student Kristin Smart, who disappeared in 1996, was attacked in a California prison for the second time this week. Staff at Pleasant Valley State Prison claim to have witnessed another inmate stab Flores on Wednesday while out in the recreation yard.
Reportedly, the violent attack is being investigated as an attempted homicide. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the incident ended following verbal commands from prison officials. The CDCR claims two “suspected inmate-manufactured weapons” were recovered after the stabbing.
Following medical treatment for his injuries, Flores was returned to the prison in good condition. This incident is the second time the convicted killer has been attacked in jail since he was sentenced to 25 years to life in March 2023.
“Today, our criminal and victim justice system has finally delivered justice for Kristin Smart, for the Smart family, and for our San Luis Obispo County community,” said District Attorney Dan Dow said in 2023 following Flores’ conviction. “We thank the Smart family and our community for the tremendous trust and patience they placed in the investigation and prosecution of this terrible crime. We recognize the jury for their focused attention to the evidence and the Sheriff’s Office for their tireless effort in building this case. Today, justice delayed is not justice denied.”
Appearing on Fox News in 2022, Nancy Grace commented on the Kristin Smart murder case, insisting that the substantial evidence in the case would bring about justice. Grace outlined the characters in the case, calling out Paul Flores and his father, who allegedly played a role in aiding the crime committed by his son.
“That is Paul Flores who was in school at the time at Cal Poly Tech with Kristin Smart. And his father, and let me just say off the top, off the top the evidence will show that Rubin the father tore down Chris’s smart missing posters and called her and I quote, a dirty sl*t,” she said.
The famous crime commentator continues illustrating the evidence, which she claimed undeniably points to Flores murdering Smart. “What I think the evidence is going to show is that the Son, Paul Flores, who was in school with her, gave her the date r*pe drug at a party she was saying basically, in articulate acting oddly, sitting beside him. They had no prior connection, and he insists on walking her home, last scene to am on campus. And then the next thing you know she goes missing campus police totally screw it up. Don’t really report it for three days.”
Nancy Grace continues explaining the highly conspicuous behavior from the Flores family, which she claimed is all the evidence the jury needs. “In the past days, in the past month has come to light that the family the Flores family puts a deck on the backyard and under using ground penetrating radar. It is very clear to the naked eye that the soil has been disturbed. Under their family debt. And in that soil, fabric and human remain decomp fluid under their deck. What more does the jury need to know?” she said.
