In a move that seems unnecessary on it’s face but tragically is indicative of the upside-down time we live in, the state of Kentucky has passed a House Bill banning puberty blockers and sex change operations for minors.
House Bill 470 shouldn’t even be necessary, especially in a deep red state like Kentucky. However, the woke mind virus that beckons people to cater to the ever-changing whims of confused children and to ignore clear mental health issues in teenagers makes it necessary to put safeguards into place to protect children from the adults. Adults that don’t always have the child’s best interest at heart. Breitbart reports:
The Kentucky House of Representatives has passed a bill that would prohibit healthcare professionals from using medical interventions like puberty blockers or sex change operations on minors who identify as transgender.
The legislation, House Bill 470, would “require an investigation of any report of provision of gender transition services to a person under the age of 18 years” and also “require revocation of the provider’s license if confirmed and termination of public funding for a public employee.”
On it’s face, these are reasonable enough requests. In most states, there are strict age restrictions on numerous things. Tattoos, tobacco, alcohol, vaping accessories are among the things that minors aren’t allowed to have, and have no say so in the decision-making process.
If a child isn’t considered age appropriate to operate a motor vehicle, how can a child be trusted to make the claim that they are a different gender? In short, a reasonable person would say they can’t. The state of Kentucky agreed. Breitbart continued:
If the bill becomes law, it will also require that providers become liable for “all damages and costs sustained for providing gender transition services.” The bill, which passed by a vote of 75 to 22, will now be considered in the Senate.
Meanwhile, bill sponsor Rep. Jennifer Decker (R-Waddy) explained that the legislation intends to protect children from irreversible damage. Decker stated, “It is only when children are subjected to medicalization, hormones and life-altering surgery, that their mental health worsens,” also going on to add, “It is not good to start with. It worsens with these procedures.”
“…I’m ruined.”
Detransitioner in tears as she retells how doctors and medical professionals aided her transition when she was just a child.

The bill was overwhelmingly supported in the House, but will face more challenges in the Senate. Perhaps helping aid the bill, news of this in the state has somewhat flown under the national radar. There have yet to be widespread, organized outside protests from paid activists.
What the left fails to take into account are the sad, tragic stories from youngsters that have “de-transitioned”. Liberals, groomers and activists turn a blind eye to these stories because it doesn’t suit their narrative. Breitbart said:
Luka Hein of Minnesota, who is a detransitioner, told lawmakers how she has been permanently harmed by medical interventions that sought to aid her transition. “I was affirmed down a path of medical intervention that I could not fully understand the long-term impacts and consequences of, nor fully consent to, due to both my age and my mental health conditions,” she said.
Several detransitioners have spoken out about their experiences, with some saying that their lives have been ruined by their medical transition attempt.
Could this perhaps be because parents want to project their issues on their kids? Children aren’t emotionally developed enough to know exactly what they are, no less be able to claim they are a different gender. Right on cue, the activists have begun weighing in. According to breitbart:
A pro-transgender organization called the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) condemned the proposed legislation, with Cathryn Oakley, HRC’s State Legislative Director and Senior Counsel, remarking, “Denying transgender and non-binary youth access to best-practice care is dangerous, spiteful, and just another example of Kentucky legislators abusing their authority to achieve their own political goals.”
As a parent, and a resident of the state of Kentucky, I am proud of the Commonwealth standing up to the groomers and gender activists. Children should be protected and nurtured, not enabled and manipulated to suit the gross agendas of fringe groups.
Further, I support harsh penalties for violations. Harsher than what is being proposed. Currently, the legislation will authorize the attorney general to investigate healthcare providers who violate the ban, who could be fined up to $25,000. That’s not enough. Permanent loss of license, fines and criminal prosecution should be the standard. For now, we will wait and see, but the Bluegrass State is on the right track.
