Teasing a possible Senate run, Nate Morris, a Kentucky businessman, called for a major shift from Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) style of politics. Morris drew attention to McConnell’s resistance to President Trump’s America First policies and hinted that other members of the Trump administration have been angry with McConnell for years.
For context, the term RINO, or Republican In Name Only, is a longstanding shorthand conservatives use to describe traitorous politicians who betray their constituents by adopting swamp politics and abandoning their conservative principles once they move to Washington, D.C.
In any case, during his May 31, 2025, conversation with Breitbart News host Matthew Boyle, Morris mentioned that the vice president has been frustrated with the encumbrant senator. He explained, “He’s [Vance] been encouraging to look at this seat just because it’s so important that we have a clean break from Mitch McConnell and I think Kentuckians know that and I think Americans know that and it seems like everywhere I go and everyone I talk to, the fatigue and the disgust with Mitch McConnell is at record levels.”
Continuing his remarks, the possible candidate said of McConnell, “He has tried to sabotage the president’s agenda over and over again.” Blasting other possible candidates, he added, “[Rep. Andy Barr and Daniel Cameron] would ‘vote 100 percent’ like McConnell if elected to the Senate,” and described them as “Mitch’s boys doing his dirty work for another 40 years.”
In a post to his social media, the businessman again teased his possible campaign. He tweeted, “If you’re asking for a permission slip to run for office here in Kentucky from Mitch McConnell, then you shouldn’t be running in the first place. The last thing Kentucky needs is another puppet for Mitch McConnell running for office.”
Building on this point with a video, he added, “Nate Morris, here, there’s been a lot of rumors over the past few weeks about me possibly running for Senator, Governor here in Kentucky. I haven’t made a decision yet, but I’m seriously looking at it. I think President Trump needs less of these weak career politicians running for office and more outside businessmen who are going to fight for his America First agenda.”
Continuing his epic diatribe, he said, “I’m not going to let Mitch McConnell dictate whether I run or not. This week, I’ve seen some comments from a couple potential candidates for Senate suggesting they will only run if Mitch McConnell decides to retire, and I think that’s exactly what’s wrong with our politics today, and why we have so many politicians in Washington who are so weak that they constantly fold to the left.”

Still not done blasting the RINO, he stated, “Mitch McConnell, unfortunately, has sold Kentucky conservatives out for years now, he’s turned his back on us, and he’s turned his back on President Trump. He even voted against Pete Hegseth for defense secretary. The last thing Kentucky needs is another weak Republican who is nothing more than a puppet for Mitch McConnell.

Concluding his remarks, he said, “It’s going to be because I believe Kentucky is worth fighting for, and it’s time for some America first leadership with a backbone in our Commonwealth. And the only way that’s going to happen is we’ve got to elect people who are not going to bow down to the swamp and instead are ready to take out the trash in Washington DC. Check back with me over the next few months as I make this decision.”
