Former President Donald Trump pulled no punches in a wild video he posted to his Instagram and Truth Social accounts on Friday, May 17, one that features clips of the elderly president tripping and stumbling around while on video as a frustrated American watches those clips with worry and concern given what they could show about Biden’s mental and physical frailty.
As background, though President Joe Biden’s mental and physical health has been an area of concern for many since the beginning of his presidency, those concerns kicked into overdrive following the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on why he wouldn’t charge the president over his handling of classified information. In that report, Mr. Hur noted that the president has a poor memory.
In the report, special counsel Hur said, “We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory . . . It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”
Another part of it provided, “In his interview with our office, Mr. Biden’s memory was worse. He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (“if it was 2013 – when did I stop being Vice President?”), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (“in 2009, am I still Vice President?”), He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died. And his memory appeared hazy when describing the Afghanistan debate that was once so important to him. Among other things, he mistakenly said he “had a real difference” of opinion with General Karl Eikenberry, when, in fact, Eikenberry was an ally whom Mr. Biden cited approvingly in his Thanksgiving memo to President Obama. In a case where the government must prove that Mr. Biden knew he had possession of the classified Afghanistan documents after the vice presidency and chose to keep those documents, knowing he was violating the law, we expect that at trial, his attorneys would emphasize these limitations in his recall.”
Further, a report in Axios in the spring of 2024 alleged that aides walk around Biden when he walks across the White House lawn to or from the Marine One presidential helicopter, as doing so helps hide his “halting and stiff gait.” Other videos have shown not just that somewhat worrisome gait, but also his frequent tripping and awkward stances.
In any case, the hilarious video posted by former President Trump shows some of those awkward walking moments, with the elderly president stumbling and tripping around on camera as a mock “free fallin” rendition is sung.
“He’s an old guy, has dementia. Can’t lead us, and the country is screwed. Tell some big lies, barely speaks English. Sniffs children and their mom’s hair too. Goes the wrong way, when he leaves his speeches. Gets lost each day in the White House yard. All the Dems say that we should reelect him. How can he run, when walking is hard?” “And Joe keeps, keeps fallin, yeah he keeps falling,” the chorus then repeats numerous times.
