Leftist comedian Kathy Griffin recently claimed that her life is currently a “sh*t show,” citing an ongoing battle with mental health issues. According to Griffin, her life is “melting down” most of the time when she is not onstage performing comedy, her only source of remediation. Griffin thanked her fans after a recent string of shows she delivered across the Northeast.
“My life happens to be a bit of a s*** show right now. Mental health stuff. But you know what calms my a** down? Stepping on that stage. Seriously, I am pretty much melting down most the time until my feet hit that stage. So thank you for Friday in Norwalk, Connecticut, and thank you for Saturday for two shows in Ptown, Mass [Provincetown, Massachusetts],” the comedian wrote on X.
Griffin received support from her fans, wishing her the best. Notably, one user in the comments section, a Trump supporter, demonstrated the act of forgiveness and loving their enemy when they offered a prayer for peace and happiness. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”…. I hope you find peace and happiness…… from a MAGA supporter,” they wrote.
In 2017, Griffin generated enormous controversy when she posed for a photo holding a fake decapitated and blood-covered head of then-President Donald Trump. The American Tribune recently reported on comments from Griffin where she said she has “been through hell and back,” since the incident. The comedian stated, “I’ve been through hell and back people. Hell and back.” Whoopi Goldberg said, “But you are back and that’s important.”
Griffin has maintained that she was “making fun” of Donald Trump in the grotesque photo shoot. However, some, including the federal government, interpreted the incident as a potential call to violence against Trump. “I actually just got a FOIA back, Freedom of Information Act, recently, expressing how serious they were about trying to charge me with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States,” she said.
The former president previously reacted to Griffin’s disturbing stunt, illustrating the impact it had on his family, including then-First Lady Melania Trump and his son Barron who was very young at the time. “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” Trump posted on Twitter.
Similarly, Melania also issued a statement about the controversial photo. “As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing,” she stated. “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
“I sincerely apologize. I’m just now seeing the reaction of these images. I’m a comic. I crossed the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far,” Griffin eventually admitted, conceding that she had taken things too far. Watch Griffin explain her struggles on “The View” below:
