Kari Lake, a staunch Trump supporter who lost her gubernatorial bid in Arizona in 2022 but remains highly popular on the populist, MAGA right, is running for the US Senate in Arizona in 2024. She just won an endorsement for that race from Rep. Cory Mills of Florida, a staunch MAGA Republican who is deeply concerned about the border. Lake has already been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
Lake will first have to make it through the GOP primary for the race, meaning she will have to beat out Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, a business consultant named George Nicholson, an engineer named Brian White, and potentially a libertarian and Air Force veteran named Alan White.
As she has by far the most name recognition of the bunch and is a close ally of President Trump, Lake will then have to beat both the sitting Senator in the seat, Kyrsten Sinema, an Independent, and whomever the Democrats decide to put up as their candidate. Sinema, a former Democrat, will likely rely on the left for support, though she has been endorsed by Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, a Republican, so the RINO and “moderate” vote could lean her way as well.
In any case, Rep. Mills backed Lake in a statement to Breitbart News, saying, “This election is the most consequential; the Senate Majority runs through Arizona. I am proud to endorse Kari Lake for United States Senate in Arizona.”
Continuing, Rep. Mills framed both Sinema and the Democrat candidate as being Biden lackeys, saying, “Kari will work tirelessly to secure the border, rebuild our military, restore American Energy Independence, and take care of our Veterans. Her two Democrat opponents have been a rubber stamp for Joe Biden’s reckless agenda. Kari will restore sanity and put Arizona First.”
Lake, thanking Mills for his support, said, “I am honored and humbled to have the endorsement of Congressman Cory Mills. He served our country honorably in the military and fought for our freedoms. Cory has led the fight for America First policies in Congress and pushed back against Joe Biden’s dangerous policies. I am grateful for his friendship and support.”
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Lake’s Senate bid in an October video posted to Truth Social, saying, “When I’m back in the White House, I need strong fighters like Kari in the Senate. She is a fighter. She’s strong and she’s good. She’s got a great heart by the way.”
Continuing, the former president then said, “I will need a majority in the House and in the Senate. We have to have a big strong majority to help me push our America-first agenda through and to push it through really fast. That starts right here tonight by helping Kari Lake win in Arizona, and she will win too.”
Polling for the Arizona race generally shows Lake and the likely Democrat, Gallego, relatively neck in neck, with Independent Kyrsten Sinema being significantly behind both of them, very likely thanks to her lack of party support.
