In a decision that was announced on Truth Social, President Donald Trump said that he has decided to end Secret Service protection for Ashley and Hunter Biden. In the post, which he made early in the evening on the night of Monday, March 17, the president explained that each of former President Biden’s kids had over a dozen agents assigned to protect them, and that the government would no longer be bearing that cost.
As background, President Trump has reason to seek revenge on former President Biden by yanking away extraneous Secret Service protection details, as the Biden Administration refused to provide Secret Service protection for key people in President Donald Trump’s orbit, even after the November election.
For example, as was announced by armed service veteran Matthew Strickland on X (formerly Twitter), Border Czar Tom Homan was refused Secret Service protection despite credible threats on his life. Describing that horrific refusal to protect a key member of the incoming Trump Administration, Mr. Strickland said, “A few weeks ago @RealTomHoman called me and told me about some very credible threats to him & his family’s lives. The Biden admin refused to provide the incoming Boarder Czar with protection. In my opinion, the Deep State wanted him dead.”
In any case, President Trump announced on Truth Social that Hunter and Ashley Biden would no longer be protected by the Secret Service. Beginning, he noted that American taxpayers shouldn’t be paying for Hunter’s security, saying, “Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer.”
Continuing, President Trump noted that Hunter has a dozen and a half Secret Service agents working to protect him while he vacations in dangerous places like South Africa, which makes no sense at all. The president wrote, “There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous! He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned.”
President Trump then noted that South Africa is so awful it had American foreign aid yanked away from it, and that, in any case, Hunter wouldn’t be getting the Secret Service protection on which he relies for a moment longer. The president wrote, “Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance. Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection.”
Concluding his post, the president announced that the former president’s daughter, Ashley, will no longer be getting taxpayer-funded protection details either, and so the over a dozen agents protecting her will no longer be doing so. He wrote, “Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list.”

Similarly, back in February of 2025, President Trump announced that he was yanking former President Biden’s security clearance, saying, in a post on Truth Social, “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.”
