In a short post on Truth Social that took the internet by storm and led to a huge celebration amongst MAGA Americans, President Donald Trump revealed that there is an ongoing investigation into far-left “Squad” Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over her alleged immigration fraud, which could lead to her deportation.
As background, Rep, Omar is accused of having lied on her immigration forms when migrating from Somalia to America and becoming a United States citizen. Such lies are not only a serious felony, but are grounds for denaturalization and deportation. So, the news that the much-disliked Rep. Omar is indeed being investigated and might be deported has been very well received by the president’s base.
President Trump’s indirect announcement on the matter came when he shared an article from MAGA-friendly news site “Just the News” on his Truth Social account, saying, “ICE refuses to disclose records on Ilhan Omar fraud probe, cites ongoing ‘enforcement proceedings’”. That caption was also the title of the article.
In the article, Just the News revealed that it had filed a Freedom of Information Act request back in January of 2026, in which it requested records related to the long-rumored and much-desired immigration investigation into Ilhan Omar, who it noted is accused of having married her biological brother to help him stay in America, a charge she denies.
Responding to that FOIA request, ICE told Just the News, the outlet said, “ICE has determined that the information you requested is being withheld in full pursuant to Title 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(7)(A). Disclosure of any responsive records at this time could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.” Further according to Just the News, the FOIA exemption that ICE used “applies to records or information compiled for law enforcement purposes when their release could disrupt such proceedings.”
According to DOJ guidance on the matter that was cited by Just the News, for that FOIA exemption to be valid, “First, there must be a ‘reasonable likelihood’ of a pending or contemplated law enforcement proceeding,” and “Second, release of the information must be reasonably expected to cause some articulable harm to that proceeding.” So, it would appear that there is an ongoing investigation into Omar.
Border Czar Tom Homan previously confirmed an investigation into Omar, doing so when speaking with Newsmax host Rob Schmitt. He said, “You know, I just got advised by fraud investor the other day on that, I asked the question, who reviewed the file? Says, No, there was immigration fraud involved. The statute of limitation became an issue in the last four years when this was first brought up, who was president, who run DOJ. So pulling the records.”

Continuing, he noted that the investigation seems certain to reach the conclusion that she committed fraud, saying, “Now, pulling the files, and we’re looking at but this fraud investigator, who I know, personally, one of the best fraud investigators in HSI Homeland Security Investigations, said, ‘There’s no doubt.’ He reviewed the file. So I’m running that down this week, matter of fact, and we’ll see.”
