King Charles III is in, which means Harry and Meghan are out. That comes from the Daily Mail, the British paper that’s always the first on a story. It reports that the new king is giving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the boot from their remaining royal residence in the UK.
That residence is The Frogmore Cottage. It will now belong, bizarrely enough, to Prince Andrew, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein’s.
Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were served with an eviction notice in January. That was shortly after the release of “Spare,” Harry’s memoir. “Spare” contained numerous, controversial allegations against the Royal Family.
The Daily Mail, reporting Harry and Meghan’s eviction, said that:
[T]he Palace seeks to replace the pair with the disgraced Duke of York, who currently inhabits the larger Royal Lodge, the paper alleges.
Andrew is said to be resisting the move, but it is said Harry and Meghan will be forced to leave the cottage – their only remaining home in the UK – and fully complete their relocation to the US irrespective of whether Andrew moves in.
The revelation comes with preparations for King Charles’ Coronation in May well underway amid speculation that Prince Harry may not receive an invitation.
MailOnline has contacted Buckingham Palace and Prince Harry’s representatives for comment.
A royal insider, commenting on the move, said “Andrew is resisting the idea of moving into Frogmore Cottage after he was offered it last week. But it shows Harry and Meghan are powerless to stop the eviction.”
The same Daily Mail article notes that Frogmore isn’t so much a “cottage” as another royal palace, saying:
Frogmore Cottage, a grace-and-favour home on the Frogmore Estate in Windsor was gifted to the Duke and Duchess by the late Queen in 2018 for their wedding.
It is just a stone’s throw from Adelaide Cottage – the principal home of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Despite its name, Frogmore Cottage is a large house with five bedrooms and sprawling gardens. A multi-million-pound renovation was carried out in 2018 and 2019 before Harry and Meghan moved in.
It was previously five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate.
The whole renovation cost £2.4million, which came from the Sovereign Grant.
The move comes as “Spare” sends shockwaves throughout the media, not because any of the allegations are particularly out there or embarrassing but instead because he made them in what can only be seen as an attempt to bring down the royal family. Vulture, reporting on one section of the claims, reports that:
Harry claims his dad has been calling him a “spare” child since birth.
“‘Now you’ve given me an heir and a spare — my work is done,’” Harry claims Charles told Diana. The current king would also joke about whether or not the Duke of Sussex was an illegitimate child. “Pa liked telling stories, and this was one of the best in his repertoire. He’d always end with a burst of philosophizing … Who knows if I’m really the Prince of Wales? Who knows if I’m even your real father?”“He’d laugh and laugh, though it was a remarkably unfunny joke, given the rumor circulating just then that my actual father was one of Mummy’s former lovers: Major James Hewitt. One cause of this rumor was Major Hewitt’s flaming ginger hair, but another cause was sadism.”
