Karoline Leavitt is heading to Fox News, with her new contributor role set to begin November 1st. The former White House press secretary will provide political commentary and analysis across the network’s programming. Fox announced the hiring on October 5th, weeks after she left the administration. The move keeps one of Trump’s most recognizable spokespeople in front of a national television audience.

Leavitt, 29, served as press secretary during Trump’s second administration, becoming the youngest person in American history to hold the position. Her time at the White House included regular briefings on domestic and foreign policy and changes that expanded access to the briefing room for new media. She had previously served as national press secretary for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott pointed to that experience in explaining the network’s decision. “Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” Scott said. The executive said Fox expects Leavitt to offer informed analysis across its platforms, drawing on her work inside the administration and during the election campaign.

Leavitt welcomed the appointment in Fox’s announcement, saying she appreciated the chance to become an official member of the network’s team. She said she would bring “my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candor that defined my tenure” to viewers. Her statement described the position as an opportunity to continue appearing on Fox while contributing across its various platforms.

The departure from the White House followed a decision to devote more time to her family, as The Epoch Times reported. Leavitt had welcomed her second child, a daughter, in May and described the difficulty of combining motherhood with her position. In her departure statement, she called serving as press secretary the “honor and adventure of a lifetime.” She also expressed gratitude for opportunities to meet foreign leaders and travel around the country.

Trump announced on August 12th that Leavitt would leave at the end of that month, according to the outlet’s earlier report. He said he respected her decision to spend more time with her young children and family. The president also said she would remain a top outside adviser and an influential Republican voice as his party prepared for the midterm elections.

Her work with Trump began well before the 2024 campaign. During his first administration, Leavitt worked as a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. She later served as communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), when Stefanik chaired the House Republican Conference. Leavitt also became the Republican congressional nominee in New Hampshire’s 1st District in 2022 before returning to presidential campaign communications.

The appointment brings Leavitt back to a network where she worked during college. According to Fox, she interned there during the 2016 presidential election. She graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2019 with a degree in politics and communication. She now lives in New Hampshire with her husband, Nick, and their two young children.

In announcing her departure, Trump credited Leavitt’s work in the White House and her role in his successful 2024 campaign. His statement praised her leadership and years of work on his behalf. He also offered a direct assessment of her performance behind the briefing-room podium: “Karoline has been one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office.”
