Recent reports reveal that a Chinese Communist Party-linked company made payments to President Biden’s family members. Some have suggested Biden could be charged with bribery, which the Constitution deems an impeachable offense.
According to the House Oversight Committee, in 2017, China’s State Energy HK Limited paid $3 million to a company controlled by Robert Walker, who is associated with the Biden family. It is then alleged that Walker distributed the funds to various members of the Biden family, including Hunter Biden, James Biden, Biden’s daughter-in-law, and another undisclosed member. Breitbart further details the Chinese company’s interactions with the Biden family:
State Energy HK Limited was linked to CEFC China Energy, whose chairman, Ye Jianming, did business with Hunter Biden. CEFC was also involved in an abandoned joint venture with the Biden family in which someone referred to as the “big guy,” and presumed to be then-former Vice President Biden, was to have a 10% stake.
It is not clear what goods or services, if any, were provided in exchange for these payments.
According to Hunter Biden’s legal team, “As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses.” However, many do not believe Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings are entirely legitimate. For nearly a decade, Hunter’s business ventures have been seen as a potential conflict of interest for Joe Biden, where his son has interacted with Ukrainian and Chinese companies.
Given the current geopolitical backdrop, these large payments made by a state-owned Chinese company are very concerning. Tensions between China and the U.S. are progressively worsening, and the possibility of adversarial conflict continues to rise. It would undoubtedly be in China’s interest to influence powerful politicians in the United States. Democrats attempted to impeach Trump as soon as he took office and after he left office in 2021, setting a precedent that it does not matter that this Chinese business deal occurred before Biden’s presidency.
Now with a Republican majority in the House, the GOP is turning its sights on investigating the Biden family’s connections. The House of Representatives is actively investigating bribery between Biden and China. According to House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), “The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating President Biden’s connections to certain international and domestic business transactions and practices, including his family and associates who peddled influence to generate millions of dollars for the Biden family. The Committee’s review of testimony in a federal criminal prosecution—United States v. Patrick Ho—and other documents show that you have records and information about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.”
“The defendant in that prosecution, Patrick Ho, was convicted of international bribery and money laundering in 2018 and was the former head of CEFC China Energy’s (CEFC) U.S.-based operation. CEFC—now state-owned by the Chinese Communist Party—approached the Biden family to expand its energy portfolio in the United States. The Committee requests you schedule a transcribed interview with Committee staff and produce certain documents related to CEFC, Robert Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their business associates.”
