Maria Bartiromo might be getting revenge on Fox News Channel after it randomly fired her by joining up with a competitor network, taking her talents and the favor of President Donald Trump and his MAGA audience to CBS News, where she could apparently become one of the spot on CBS’ flagship “60 Minutes”. Such, at present, has not been officially announced but rather was leaked by insider Rob Shuter’s newsletter, Naughty But Nice.
Reporting as much in his exclusive Naughty But Nice report on the matter, Shuter noted that Bartiromo, who is a well-respected longtime financial journalist who got good ratings at Fox News and Fox Business in addition to being a favorite of the president, is apparently in talks with new CBS News boss Bari Weiss about what role she might fill at the network, which is trying to ditch its reputation for being far-left, fake news.
In fact, according to Shuter’s report, not only is Bartiromo in talks with Weiss regarding a potential host at CBS News, but she is even possibly being considered for a role on 60 Minutes, the flagship show of the network and one that still has a relatively good reputation that could be made much better by hiring a conservative journalist like Bartiromo.
Reporting as much, Shuter says he was told, by a television industry insider, “Maria and Bari have already spoken.” That insider reportedly added, “Maria isn’t sitting around licking her wounds. She’s moving fast, and 60 Minutes is absolutely in the mix. She wants to remain a major player.”
As background, Fox News Media announced out of the blue that it had decided to cut ties with Bartiromo in late August, announcing, “Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media.” Continuing, the network added, not giving anything of note away as it did so, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.” For reference, Bartiromo appeared last on Fox Business Network on August 7, and her last appearance on Fox News came on August 9.
While it did not provide additional details, Founding Partner and Senior Correspondent at Puck, Dylan Byers, revealed what he claimed was the inside scoop in a post about the matter on X. Beginning, Byers alleged that the Bartiromo firing had to do with her attempts to do a show on the 2020 election, saying, “NEW: The Maria Bartiromo backstory, per multiple sources familiar…. Maria Bartiromo wanted to pursue a story related to China and 2020 election voting conspiracies… a major sensitivity for the network given its Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits.”
He continued, “A Fox Business executive sent a text to Fox Business producers informing them that that story could not go to air. Bartiromo took a screen shot of the guidance and sent it to senior White House officials.” He added, “Fox News leadership learned about that after receiving a call from the White House, which they viewed as a fireable offense. Fox pulled Bartiromo from air after Aug. 9. She was fired today. I have also learned that her executive producer Patrick Ignozzi was also fired after the annoucnement. Maria had resigned her contract with Fox last February.”
