Just In: Former CIA Director Accuses Rep. Schiff of Leaking Classified Info [WATCH]

During a recent interview with Fox News, a former CIA Director accused Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff of California of having leaked classified information.

That former CIA Director was Mike Pompeo, who served in that position under President Donald Trump. He, speaking to Fox News about Rep. Schiff in the context of Speaker McCarthy kicking him off the House Intelligence Committee, said “During my time as CIA director and Secretary of State, I know that he leaked classified information that had been provided to him.”

Pompeo did not provide any specific details about what Rep. Schiff might have leaked during the Trump presidency. He did, however, state that the leaking issue was such a problem that he had to limit what information he shared with the sieve-like Congress. Pompeo, speaking about the gravity of the issue and regularity of it, said:

“It’s a complicated process, right? It’s difficult to pin down precisely what happened. But I could tell you that when we provided information to him and to his staff, it ended up in places it shouldn’t have been with alarming regularity. We could see it. In the end, I decided, I held back information from them as a result.”

    Watch him discuss that here:

MIKE POMPEO: "The fact that…Schiff was the Chairman of the…Intelligence Committee almost ruined that committee…Schiff should be nowhere near serving on the Intelligence Committee. I don't think he should be seeing classified information." pic.twitter.com/3A0iwMc3Dq

In the past, Schiff has denied any such leaks. Speaking to CNN in 2020, for example, he said “I haven’t. My staff hasn’t. I can’t speak for what all the members of the committee have done or not done, including a lot of the Republican members.”

Further, Schiff’s spokesperson, in a statement to The Hill about Pompeo’s remarks, said “This is another patently false and defamatory statement from Mike Pompeo. While we understand that Adam Schiff is a favorite target for the failed lackeys of the Trump administration running for president, reputable news outlets shouldn’t repeat these falsehoods.”

Others who have inside knowledge, however, disagree. Speaker McCarthy, for instance, hinted that Schiff had done something deserving of condemnation in his letter about why Schiff was booted off the Intel Committee, saying: “I cannot put partisan loyalty ahead of national security, and I cannot simply recognize years of service as the sole criteria for membership on this essential committee. Integrity matters more.”

Further, he added that “it is my assessment that the misuse of this panel during the 116th and 117th Congresses severely undermined its primary national security and oversight missions – ultimately leaving our nation less safe,” and that he wants the panel to be one of “genuine honesty and credibility that regains the trust of the American people.”

Similarly, Tom Cotton suggested that Schiff could have been behind the claim that Russia was offering bounties on US troops, saying:

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) suggested to conservative commentator Lisa Boothe in April 2021 that Schiff could be a source for dubious reports on Russia offering bounties to Afghan militants to kill U.S. troops. Schiff spokesman Patrick Boland shot back with a brief response to the Washington Examiner at the time, “Yet another false and baseless claim by Tom Cotton — you would think he would know better by now.”
