In yet more awesome news out of the Department of Justice, it was announced that the DOJ has begun a mortgage fraud probe targeting Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA). As could be expected, Rep. Swalwell insisted that what is going on is that he is being targeted for his political beliefs and for his opposition to President Donald Trump.
As background, a number of key Democratic figures and politicians appear to have committed mortgage fraud, and are reaping the whirlwind as a result of their illegal behavior. New York Attorney General Letitia James has already had to go to court over her alleged mortgage fraud, and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is in a similarly dire position.
Now, it is Rep. Swalwell who is facing such major consequences for his illegal behavior. According to a report in Fox News Digital, it was able to confirm that the DOJ had opened an investigation into mortgage fraud charges referred to it against him by Bill Pulte, irector of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Further, the New York Post was able to discover that the case covers “mortgage and tax fraud” accusations that are connected to “his purchase of a $1.2 million home in Washington, DC, that he claimed as a primary residence.” Further, the Post added that Swalwell managed to “secure millions of dollars’ worth of loans and refinancing” because he had made “false and misleading” statements to claim the house was his primary residence.
Rep. Swalwell responded to the news in a somewhat bizarre and very self-important message posted to X. His staff captioned it, “Today, U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) issued the following statement on targeting political opponents.” The statement then went on to accuse President Trump of unfairly and illegally targeting him.
Beginning it, Swalwell said that the case is only occurring at all because he is a critic of the president, snapping, “As the most vocal critic of Donald Trump over the last decade and as the only person who still has a surviving lawsuit against him, the only thing I am surprised about is that it took him this long to come after me.”
Continuing, he insisted that he would not be living “in fear” and that other important officials have been unfairly attacked by the president, turning America into an unfree country. He said, “Like James Comey and John Bolton, Adam Schiff and Lisa Cook, Letitia James and the dozens more to come – I refuse to live in fear in what was once the freest country in the world.”

Then, referencing a lawsuit that he filed against the president years ago that remains ongoing, the California Congressman said, “Of course, I will not end my lawsuit against him. And I will not stop speaking out against the President and speaking up for Californians.”
Concluding, he let fly with a pointless and unnecessary quote from Mark Twain, the famous late-19th-century novelist and humorist, saying, “As Mark Twain said, ‘Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.’ Mr. President, do better. Be Better.”
