“John Thune is a massive RINO sellout and a total traitor”: MAGA Goes Berserk As Senate GOP Passes DHS Funding Bill that Leaves ICE High and Dry Without New Funding, Just To Get Out of Town for Easter Vacation [WATCH]

On March 27, 2026, after a 41-day partial DHS shutdown, the Senate passed a funding bill in the dead of night with only a skeleton crew and no formal roll call vote. It funded most of the Department of Homeland Security, including TSA, but deliberately excluded key ICE enforcement operations and CBP, plus elements fighting child sex trafficking via Homeland Security Investigations

Reacting to the stunning betrayals, Fox News’ Emily Compagno and Chad Pergram highlighted the unusual late-night process as the first breakthrough in the impasse. House conservatives reacted with fury, with many taking to social media to criticize the decision.

In any case, Emily Compagno began the segment by noting, “The Senate is burning the midnight oil, just passing funding for most of the Department of Homeland Security, for details on what this all means. Let’s turn to our expert, Fox News Chief Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram, who joins us from Capitol Hill. Chad, we just got it passed, right?”

“Well, they just passed this through the Senate. This is something that they had been working on for hours and hours and hours, and they did it without even a formal roll call vote,” the correspondent said, “They did it with just a skeleton crew inside the chamber here.”

Building on this point, he added, “This might be the beginning of breaking this impasse with the, you know, funding for the Department of Homeland Security that has gone on now for 41 hours, two hours, 41 days, two hours in about 37 minutes. It’s really remarkable here that this is the first genuine movement. These funds everything at the Department of Homeland Security, except funding for ICE.”

Disgusted, Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) blasted the GOP leadership on social media. “In the dead of night, with only five senators present on the floor and no one there to object, the Senate rushed through a DHS funding bill that deliberately left ICE and CBP unfunded,” he posted.

Wrapping up his comments, the conservative declared, “Now, they are leaving town. No SAVE America Act. ICE and CBP unfunded. Senate Republicans just gave the Democrats everything they wanted and more,” expressing the sense of betrayal felt by many Trump supporters.

In another post on the same subject, Self added, “No Senator should be leaving until this DHS mess gets sorted out. It’s cowardly and irresponsible.” Slamming the deep state senators for prioritizing their own comfort over the will of the American people.

Joining the chorus of negative reactions, Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) posted, “The Senate abdicated its responsibility. No funding for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which fights child sex trafficking. No funding for Border Patrol. No voter ID. Bad for America. Bad for Americans.”

    Watch the clip here:

Sounding the alarm bell, Self asserted, “The Senate just sent the House a disastrous DHS funding bill that leaves ICE/CBP without funding, including the part of ICE that targets child sex trafficking. They also failed to move the SAVE America Act.”
